Are you going to create a thread on EVERY extra and accessory that is not brick oriented ?

I will defend all these extras !! Everything that makes money is a winner in my book !! The more money TLC makes, the better sets for us !! Its just a win-win situation !! And my Lego rep says that all these extras work well, so I'm glad !!

EB? Don't fault EB for this crap. I'm the one who points out the stupid crap. No reason to give all of EB 3 thumbs down. They didn't make the crap either. :-P

I didn't mean it like that, I gave the people wo ordered a kids meal three thumbs down, not EB, sorry my fault. I also of course give TLC a thumb or dozen down for this crap. *n* *n* *n* *n* *n* *n* *n* *n* *n* *n* *n* *n*

I ordered kids meal for the Quick promos and I am proud of it >:-) And I give myself three thumbs up !!

This thread was created for humour, and it seems to be working so far. *sweet*

But yes, it does make money for Lego, so good. But that doesn't mean guys like us have to like it. |-/ ;-)

I know but it the same humour once again, and at first it was funny, now its just old & repetitive !! And it gives, once again, reasons for some TLC bashing and pessimistic attitudes which is really annoying after a while.

I'm all 100% humour but not on that :-P

What more do you need? :-D

Now I can draw my favourite Lego wizard of all times!

"I'm sorry, I don't have the time to build anything that doesn't directly promote me."

I promise that my next S@H order will also include an Ice Cube Tray and and a Manga Tutorial Set.

Although funds are low at the moment so I have to concentrate on sets, I do also like to collect any Lego merchandise. I've bought other Lego stationary but not the Aquaraiders set as yet and some of the other "play" swords/water-blasters for my nephews. They aren't overly interested in Lego as such but I do like to show them how the dressing-up stuff can be related to the minifigs and then get them playing with the actual Lego too.

Yes, Lego should be concentrating on increasing its quality issues and giving us great sets, but this is an ever changing marketplace and congrats to TLG for having the wisdom to diversify slightly while still tieing everything back to Lego themes.

Worst? Certainly not. But that's because I'm also trying to teach myself how to draw Manga and have recently placed an order for this set as it combines my 2 hobbies (though I guess I won't be using it as an actual tutorial, but just as an item of both hobbies)

Aquaraiders pad... Well, small kids can bring it to school and promote the Lego brand to all their little friends without the fear of having actual bricks confiscated,

Police set.. DUDE... it's got LEGO POLICE TAPE. *wub*

Manga drawing tutorial... WEABOO ALERT!

Goddamit, there is NOTHING worse than non-japanese fruitloops doing how-to's on anime art!

Look at those bastard children of Exo-Force they call "anime".

I've seen better on the notebooks of schoolgirls smitten with Ranma or Tenchi characters.

LEGO kinda' pissed on anime with their dutch-japanese (lol) hybrid art... but to tell kids it is AND teach them how to draw crappy?

INEXCUSABLE!

If it sells and makes money for the Lego company, then that's all the defense it needs. If it was a first outing into such items, then it's defendable as an experiment. If other similar products sold well, but this one doesn't, then it was a reasonable and forgivable mistake. If other similar products didn't sell and it was doomed from the start, then Lego is crazy and I can't defend it.

Other than that, I would say that since, presumably, kids would be taking such an item to school it would provide valuable exposure for the Lego company and maybe draw in more kids to the hobby. Its like free advertising.

Personally, I don't see what's wrong with this product. Its not Lego (as in bricks), but its not a bad product, per se. Not that I would be interested in it, but I don't do Aquaraiders... Adventurers would be another story... I don't see how it is any different from a T-shirt or poster...

the problem i see is that none of these "accessories" are making any money. why does TLC keep wasting designer's time and its own capital making all these crap. and all the while ignoring calls for better factory sets.

there are two competitive advantage i see in the lego brand name. 1 - design. 2 - bricks.

1- to stay in the game and to profit year after year, keep your designers motivated and happy to let their creative juices flow unbridled. to accomplish this, sure price points are important. but what about being bolder and venture into more UCS designs than just SW? they keep talking about how 90% of target consumers are kids and only 10% afols. i kinda doubt that judging from the sales figures from their top 25 hot seller list, week after week. okay, granted most of their sales must come from retail stores rather than online, but still.... themes that are generally tailored for kids like aqua, MM are disasters compared to castle, city, SW. i see whiny kids in TRU asking for these sets all the time, and yet those that sell are mostly afol or afol approved themes, like new castle rather than the replaced KK2.

2- keep creating parts that lego fans want. new accessories. new brick parts. maintain quality but lower cost of production. this has been somewhat of a failure. if you look at the cafe corner set you'll see many problems with color consistency and a much higher error tolerance. the bricks do not line up correctly. that's just poor QC. if you are going to outsource, you gotta inspect the output. don't fall into the mattel/hasbro recall trap. the brand name will be tainted. :-P

and while i welcome the new troll swords, it's way too big for a mf. i thought that was clear when the consumers rejected the horrendous zwords (KK swords). again, we see TLC reverting to the imaginary "90% of buyers are kids" rule. duh... yeah, that's why KK2 was such a failure. :-| because 90% of buyers are kids. :-| same goes with the larger than life skeleton swords.

We're asking the question based on a well-known phrase, which asks how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood. So assuming a woodchuck could chuck wood, one could pose the question "If a woodchuck could chuck wood, how many woodchucks could it chuck?"...

Oh, you're just wrong. Stop being wrong. :-P

No, you are okay, buddy. :-) Although I give those hardcore LEGO fans a big *y* . They are the heroes in my book! :'-)

Goddamit, there is NOTHING worse than non-japanese fruitloops doing how-to's on anime art!

I don't know why but this is one of my favorite Jinzo quotes ever. :-D :-D :-D Personally, I don't know much about Manga, so I thought that's exactly how they were drawn *ducks flying Bionicles sets-aka piles of silver blades* ;-) Hey buddy, there's even a Lenticular Bionicle notebook *wacko* for you!

Well, put Steve! But, it's still fun to laugh at the crap! *wacko*

Mostly, my point is, that I don't like clicking on the What's New section of the SAH site and seeing a listing for AquaRaiders only to see that it's a stationary set. :-| But, fans of this, never fear, there's an entire line of stationary.

May I have me a keychain then, eh?

Except there are no words that indicate the comparison. They are two fragments strung together with a dangling participle. On the other hand, my sentence is the epitome of perfect grammar!

I agree. But imperialshadows is right, cover that participle up.

And BTW, I want you all to live to see the day that LEGO makes Castle action figures. Not BIONICLE-like, not KK2-megafig-like, but true action figures. Manga style LEGO Castle minifig action figures. And to promote safety and creativity, they carry silver pencils marked 'SWORD' and 'SPEAR', and erasers marked 'SHIELD' instead of weapons. And I want to be there too.

Why all the gear hate? (kidding...)

I love my Adventurers gear!

gear_1_low_res.jpg

(Just a fraction, not including the pens, books, gazillions of plastic and metal keychains, buttons, deck of cards, games, birthday party favours, and of course the two retail display flags pictured previously....)

One time The Wife made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the small Adventurers Knapsack, and I refused it!

Two critical items missing from my collection. Anyone has 'em, let's talk turkey! :'-) X-D

Aventurers belt pouch Orient

and this

Although the second one may not have any Lego or adventurers mark on it, in which case my interest is not so intense.

The thought occurs to me...did LEGO workers all those years ago, painting their wooden ducks, think to themselves "What's with all this Automatic Binding Brick nonsense? Why don't we concentrate on the things that make money - wooden ducks - instead of this cheap plastic rubbish?"

I are not wrong! I are special boy!

But --

"How many woodchucks would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood, since if it could chuck wood then it could chuck the wood's weight in woodchucks, that is if it could chuck enough wood to equal the weight of a woodchuck?"

And Avak is a Bionicle character.

A Bionicle. But in this day and age, you're right, too.

And Clonie, I thank you for your alternative translation. It shall be added.
