dr_spock Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 You can also try to put more weight on top of the current motor and see if that helps before going through the complication of adding a second motor. You can reduce some drag on the HE train by replacing the bogie with the technic axle wheels on the unpowered locomotive with ones that have more free rolling train wheels. If you convert the two coupler bogies to a jacob bogie. It'll give you two free rolling train wheels to make the free rolling bogie for the second locomotive. Quote

I am running several trains with 2 rc motors especially because I have some inclines where this is needed for traction. On our layout this year we had a horizon express with multiple motors. It ran without issues. Not sure what a reverse polarity switch is or why you would need it. Quote
Hod Carrier Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Indeed. If the train motors are all orientated the same way around there should be no need to reverse the polarity. It's only required if the second motor is reversed relative to the first. Quote

marook Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Hi, In my setup, adding an extra motor in the front helped, but it also easily pull apart the magnets, so start slowly.. :-) I'm currently running the double set with two motors and one battery box in each end, driven by SBricks. It's a very nice and cool layout, as I can have profiles for the combined train and the separate ends for shunting. Having motors in both ends clearly helps going up and moving at a nice pace. Quote

From IR receiver connect one motor and the PF switch. Connect the 2nd motor to the PF Switch. Set the PF Switch so that both motors run in the same direction. If you factor in the taxes, duties, shipping and exchange rate to Canada, it could come out to one 60051 passenger train set. Quote
Paperballpark Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 With my Horizon Express, I managed to fit two motors, two battery boxes, two IR receivers and a polarity switch into the front cab. I run my trains at shows, so wanted the battery life that two rechargeable battery boxes gives. I'm planning on adding at least another 4 carriages to it. Quote

Those rich europeans.. ;-) I know one from our Danish LUG ordered a big amount and got close to 2/3 the price, so bulk ordering in a [train] LUG near you could be useful.
