I've been working on a large castle in LDD but I keep hitting a cross road. I want to be able to open the castle so that you could access all the rooms inside. Should I go with a modular design like the Cafe Corner and other sets like it. Or a more sturdy model that hinges open like the Haunted Mansion from the Monster Hunters line?

Here is an LXF file of the castle. Just a warning it's very big. (The floors are different colors so its easier to select and hide them when building on other floors to reduce lag)

It will probably depend on how you want to use it, for display only or for play.

I think hinges would work better if you want playability, or you can even consider the "open back" route like Tower of Orthanc.

I would recommend using the groups feature in LDD though, it will make it much easier for you to work with the model.

Well I don't have any plans on a real life version for quite a while. I'm just building the LDD version. If I ever did make an IRL version I would want it for display. I'm just wondering what would be the easier way to access the rooms I plan on adding. Modular or Hinged.

If you are just working in LDD, modular floors is probably easier.

Just create a group for each floor and it will very easy to select the various floors. Just keep in mind that when you make changes to a floor you update the group.
