Derek Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 If you could pick just ONE lego set to keep what would it be? For collectors it can be your most rare set or for builder it could be the set with the best parts, just pick one tell why. DP8 Quote

Sir Dillon Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Dang, that's tough. *wacko* I would probably choose my beloved 6080 King's Castle *wub* . Quote
gylman Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Although I have drifted away from Technic due to the poor offerings of recent years no set can ever take the place of the Airtech Claw Rig in my heart. The most complex build, the most functionality, and the most original and creative techniques ever used in a Technic set before or since. No other set comes close. Quote
Corvus Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I'd have to say my Republic Gunship. What a wonderful set. *wub* Quote
Tamaku-Dark Toa Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 probably my main Jabba's Palace hub from 2003. second place would be the new 2006 Boba Fetts Slave I. Quote
Nyundi Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 6085 Black Monarch's Castle Not only really nostalgic, but loaded with really great building pieces (soooo many smaller castles could made with this set). Not to mention a ton of figs and four horses :) Quote
Scouty Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I'd fight the supressor and keep them all X-D . Black Seas Barracuda perhaps, with, heh, all of the figures I own stacked all over it. Quote
iamded Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) The Indy Motorcycle Chase, so I could be first to review it. X-D In all seriousness though, I'd go for the 6093 Flying Ninja Fortress. Because, well, ninjas! So awesome! Then again, I wouldn't mind having 3791 William Walrus with 3-wheeled cart, for vig purposes. X-D No, I'd definitely go for the FNF, it's so cool! *wub* ~Peace Edited October 17, 2007 by iamded Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Wow, you certainly aren't making this easy for me, there are several that immediately spring to mind! Let's see, there's the Black Knights Castle (6086) that I always wanted, and the Forrest Men were also a great theme. Then there's the Caribbean Clipper (6274) I had so much fun playing with as a kid, I still have a soft spot for some of the space themes like the old Space Police and M:Tron (most notably: 6923 Particle Ionizer). And lets not forget about the superb minifigs that come with the present Castle theme, just for those the Castle Chess set (852001) comes to mind as well. All in all, I think I have to go with the first one that came to mind, the Black Knights Castle. Castle themes have always been a favorite of mine, and in my opinion 6086 is still one of the best looking castles to this date! Quote
Hewman Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 For me the Beta command base 6970, You get a classic space base, a ship, buggy and monorail. Can I replace the ship in it with a 918? Quote
LuxorV Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I'd say the Dwarves Mine (7036). I *wub* that set, especially after reading Hinckleys review. ...that is, as soon as I get one :-$ :-P LuxorV Quote
highlandcattle Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Ultimate train Builder set, or the Market street I like houses and trains :) Quote
jedikermit Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 The tow truck that I don't even have anymore that was my first LEGO set ever. Quote
Bobskink Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 The pirat ship with the red sails, big and cool to play and display. Quote
Fordo Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Definately the Skull's Eye Schooner! So expensive. Quote
andy_0306uk Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) I'm not sure that I could take just one set. It's too hard a decision and I'd probably go without instead of making the choice. But, at the top of my list of sets to choose from would be 375. The granddaddy of all the Castle Sets. The fact its made of mostly system parts and those very rare minifig visors are always a winner with me. And of course because it was the very first LEGO castle I had (and still have) Edited October 17, 2007 by andy_0306uk Quote
natelite Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 everyone has their favorite set so this is a really bad question. if you were to ask for value, i think the UCS MF will be the "ONE set" in about 5 years time. that is unless TLC were to create an utterly superior UCS set (non-SW included) that becomes the one single representation of the brick, the firm, and the logo. which is next to impossible judging by the audience's response of their one favorite set. :-P so UCS MF will have to be it since it was designed without a pre-determined price point, and just about everything was left to the designer's whim. tell me what other sets have that. :-P it's almost like a moc-in-a-box. :-P Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 everyone has their favorite set so this is a really bad question. I have to disagree with you here Natelite. If this was a debate about what is the best set ever, you would be absolutely right. But it isn't, the question is just about peoples personal favorites. Personally I find it very interesting to read about other members' favorite sets and why those sets have such personal value to them. I think it's nice way to get to know eachother a little better, which is probably why the topic was started in the first place. ;-) Quote

It's just a big honking set. The UCS MF does not represent "the brick, the firm, and the logo" at all. It is a freakishly large set, too expensive for almost anyone, too large for almost anyone, made to appeal to a teeny fraction of LEGO buyers. It is mostly about contruction, not play. It does not have much colour, or brightness, or appeal to children. And for god's sake... it's a LICENSE! Is that what LEGO is about? If we were to talk about the standard of representing "the brick, the firm, and the logo", we need to pick a town set, probably from the glory years of the 1990's. Perhaps Big Rig Truck Stop, or Park and Service Tower, or one of the classic castles already mentioned. However, this is not the question. The question is "one set you could take with you". MF UCS would do just fine for that, except you'd need to bring a wheelbarrow. Or a manservant. Quote
Norro Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 If we were to talk about the standard of representing "the brick, the firm, and the logo", we need to pick a town set, I was with you up to there ;-) X-D There is only one: God Bless, Nathan, who would miss 6086... Quote
Derek Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 everyone has their favorite set so this is a really bad question. Well SORRY! :-/ Quote
DB24 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Just one hey... I'd have to go with 8862. It was my first big set, i got it when i was 7, tough build! Quote
gylman Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 , or one of the classic castles already mentioned. LOL, Norro, I did say classic CASTLE was also an option :-) I know that's your fav set. It's up there for me too. Quote
