SirNadroj Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Hey everyone! This is my last WWII extension to my original abandoned nazi hideout. This is a simple burning building. Very simple, really. This will be a contest entry and one of the rules is no custom peices, hence the lack of brickarms customs like my first two WWII sections. I mean no offense to anyone by these 'nazi' like creations. 8-| I'll show you pictures of the small extension and of the whole thing! :-) Thanks for looking and here's the MOC page: http://mocpages.com/home.php/7660 Quote
gylman Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 The whole MOC is quite excellent. The flames are effectively used (not too much, but they seem "alive"). If you are going for realism, I would suggest not having all these guys smile as the street burns around them and dead bodies surround them. It really is quite a "horrible" (in a good way) scene, and the smilies weaken the effect. Or perhaps the smilies were intentionally used, in which case I apologize for my obviousness. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 This Moc is on fire! Bad jokes aside, you have truly pulled a slew of great mocs out of your big behind - and they are awesome. 10/10 *y* *y* Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Wow...that's...grim. I mean the way those people are dying - the MOC itself is excellent! *wub* That whole street seems really "alive" now - I have images of a city, being bombed to smithereens as the Allies approach, the burning buildings casting smoke and debris everywhere whilst desperate and greedy evil Nazis grab their collected loot from the arthouses of Europe and scarper, fending off the first Allied probes into the town. Dammit, you've done it again, you've got me thinking of back stories for the characters in your MOC! Dr. S. Quote
iamded Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 :-D :-D That guy's legs are on fire! :-D Anyway, great MOC/vig, looks great by itself, and it really looks like a war torn street when put with the rest. Great job! *y* *y* ~Peace Quote
Hinckley Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 >:-( Sir Nadroj! You had to go and ruin your nice Nazi MOC with death. :-P I'm just joking. Although, I will have to say, the image of the burnt skeletons is rather jarring. :'-( I don't know if you intended this, but I see this MOC as a profound piece of art. There's something poignant about the presentation of Nazis in a somewhat colorful and whimsical fashion. It reminds me of an art exhibit years ago that was mocked up LEGO Nazi death camp sets... Nice work Sir Nadroj! Nice solid profound artwork! 8- Quote
SirNadroj Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 Thanks for the feedback, guys! *sweet* If you are going for realism, I would suggest not having all these guys smile as the street burns around them and dead bodies surround them. It really is quite a "horrible" (in a good way) scene, and the smilies weaken the effect. They're menevolent, evil grins, not smiles! :-P Quote
gylman Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Here's an idea. Replace all the heads with blank faces. See if the impact is greater. Quote
Hinckley Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Here's an idea. Replace all the heads with blank faces. See if the impact is greater. I think the impact would be greatest with this head: :-) Quote
SirNadroj Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) I think the impact would be greatest with this head: :-) Well thats, ummm... classic... 8-| ....... :-D ........... ;-) Do you mean blank yellow heads? Edited October 17, 2007 by SirNadroj Quote
Batbrick Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Excellent exstension Sir Nadroj! *y* And probably the darkest yet............ *skull* The flames are handled really well, and I lve the use of a burnt black skeleton, I wonder about Gylman's blankhead idea, it would certaintly make it look more artistic. Batbrick gives it: *y* *y* TTFN! >:-) Quote
MatthewUSA Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Very nice addition to the layout. I like how you used the black skeleton minifig. Perfect use of that minifig. *y* Model On!! Quote
zz-80 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 This is an outstanding moc. I really like it! *y* The car is very beautiful, it could easily compete with the new Indiana Jones Desert Race cars... Quote
