however, that's building techniques, which is a totally different ball game from conceptualization. that's why i'd love to see more from you in this theme... to see what your overall vision for this theme is. you might also try not calling this theme, post-apocalyptic. maybe call it "PA inspired science-fantasy." it might help with all the PA-based criticism, and i don't think the new classification will hurt your MOC or your concept.

Interesting idea! That's pretty clever! Maybe I'll start a faction of Post-Apoc theme! Post-Apoc Sci-Fi! Hmmm.. this could possibly be going somewhere... ;-)

IMO, I think you can call it post-apoc. Unless someone can point me to the place where all of the post-apoc rules are clearly outlined, then you may call me a doofus-dork...As far as I know, post-apoc is Sci-Fi, what else would it be? History? Space? Pirates? *wacko*

As usual Sir Nadroj, I really want to see more from you. This is a great theme for your unique style and creativity. I can't wait to see what else your mind can come up with!! *sweet*

thankyou sir nadroj! I was looking for a cool new moc today and this is it. This is infact one of the coolest mocs ive ever seen. I really like the use of the viking hull and that detail at the end of the ship and all the anttenae are a nice touch, although different designs would have been nice. Maybe a sattelite dish?

Overall I think it has a rather flawless design. I mean i could stand here nitpicking at how you used too much brown or the fact it doesnt have that post-apoc thrown together look but I think you're allowed to make minor mistakes (if thats what you want to call em) like that when building an moc. Personally i might have made the cabin mainly grey, but thats it and the brown colour scheme certainly doesnt make the moc any less enjoyable. *y* *y* *y* *y* *y*

well, my suggestion is that he call his theme fantasy and not necessarily sci-fi... so as to avoid all the "this MOC isn't post-apoc enough" criticism, all the while still being true to his vision.

it was merely a suggestion as it seemed he was receiving a lot of critz based solely on his classification of the MOC. my thought was that maybe if sirnadroy called it something different, he wouldn't receive those comments as they would be deemed unrelated.

boy, im really trying to defend this MOC, aren't i ???

but really, i agree with you hinckley... i don't think there are so many hard-and-fast rules about post-apoc. it's all about the world you create, and it's fully acceptable that each one could be different, and apply different logistics in their natural world.

------------------------------------------------

BTW, sirnadroy... you motivated me to check out "post-apoc" galleries on BS, and none compare to what you have done here. you really have a unique take on the theme...

EDIT: oops... i just realized i've mistakenly put a "Y" on the end of your name a few times, Sir Nadroj :-$ i'll get it right from now on.

Yeah, post-apoc is open for interpetation. We have the sterotypical vision of castle, pirates, city, space, etc, but this theme is very abstract seeing as it hasn't happened yet and lego hasn't done anything officially with it.

No problem, my name's Jordan not Yordan, though I like Yordan! :-D

I'm part Swede. I'd like to learn.

Anyway, SN, you've done a great job! I've been trying to get around to doing something like this, but my workload is killing me. :'-(

SirNadroj, you have inspired me to create my own post-apocyliptic MOC, it is a great genre that is very open, something I hope TLC will touch upon one day.... 8-|

Don't expect it anytime soon though, I still have to photograph my pumpkin car and Batvig!

TTFN! >:-)

I'm glad I've inspired you! *sweet* Can't wait to see it! ;-)

Also, I'm working on another post-apoc MOC. It's a post-apoc land/water/small vehicle themed, if that gives you any hints! :-D

and am not too fond of the so called AFOL "advanced" techniques. i don't think they are advanced... i think they're sloppy.

That's how I feel! If I can't carry around a model without parts falling off, epecially if it is a ship, then I redesign it. I especially hate it when people break minifigs torsos and use them as parts. :-X

I have a request for you Sir Nadroj: Can your next Post-apoc MOC feature a mutant walrus for a pilot or captain? That would be badass *sweet* *y*

I tend to agree with you Sinner on the illegal techniques. It is distracting to me to see body parts used that way, even though it can be a very clever and innovative solution in some sets. But when it is overused, as BrickMiner pointed out, it can be highly unstable. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a cheating move, it is just a style preference. But like you, I do not prefer it. I see it used most often in steampunk and post-apoc. My two new favorite themes! *wub* But my favorite MOCs use more traditional techniques-like Sir Nadroj's! See? I actually got back on topic!! X-O

Thanks, but don't expect it soon at all because:

a) I don't want to interrupt your ones, nor do I want to be upstaged by you! :-D

b) I have other projects before this one.

Can we expect some sort of Hovercraft for yours then?

Mine will be more along with cliche post-apoc sub-genre, a heavily armed and armoured, converted bus.

Can't wait to see the next one SirNadroj!

See, I think the unothadox techniques are a sign of creativness, not sloppiness, but again, that's soley my opinon. ;-)

The one I'm working on is almost like 2 themes in one. You'll see what I mena, it's kinda weird, but a walrus wouldn't fit in. But I promise my next one will have a walrus! ;-)

I don't have any hovercrafts in the one in production now, but maybe in the future! :-)

I agree with that to a point... and the limit to me is if the usage causes piece damage or is not study.

I don't have a fabuland one, so it'll have to be brick-built. Unorthadox techniques for building walrus' ON! >:-)

:-P That would be ironic... (The walrus is becoming quite rare on Bricklink....)

As requested, I updated and revised this to make it look a bit more 'post-apoc' since I agree that it was too brown/rown. ;-)

The details/changes are very subtle. What do you guys think? Better, the same, or worse? X-D

I can see you made a few changes, but if you were going for more post-apoc I'd try some more light/dark bley. Also make it more patchwork. A few more greebs would be nice too, as it is, it's very "clean" still, if you know what I mean :-P

Like the chains though ;-)
