Lind Whisperer Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 This Adventures magazine from 1999 specifically mentions an official "LEGO Star" in the Little Bear constellation. Anyone ever heard of this before? Quote
Wout Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I find it strange they talk about the little bear constellation and the picture is of the Orion Constellation. The only Lego related name known to me is the planet Lego or Iego in Star Wars I (and later in The Clone Wars around 2009) Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 I find it strange they talk about the little bear constellation and the picture is of the Orion Constellation. Are you talking about the picture on the watch, or the picture on the box?(E.g., do you own the watch, and it shows Orion...) Quote
deraven Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 So this is a pretty odd thing, but I think it's really nothing. For the 65th Anniversary of Lego (which, as near as I can tell, in this instance was 1999; presumably from 1934 when Ole picked the name Lego for his business), the Lego company purchased a star "in the constellation Ursa Minor." Now, I'm sure it was from one of the many bogus "name a star" companies and "in Ursa Minor" is just parlance for in that region of the sky (not necessarily one of the stars that actually makes up the constellation), and the watch simply helped you sight Ursa Minor in general or perhaps even Polaris specifically since they mention "the North Star" several times, but the "Official Real-Life Lego Star" I'm sure was completely insignificant, other than the little marketing bit they did to sell the watch.
