Victor Imaginator Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I dont know where i will finish, but this is what i have now. I plan to build some rear engine supercar. Now it have: - working 4 cylinder engine, - differential, - HOG steering, - double wishbone front suspension, - not a perfect steering pivot, but at least it's not outside of wheel, - almost live axle at the back. Current volume is about 6000 studs. Lime arrow is for turntable, red arrow is for rubber connectors acting as springs. All this is actually far away from real supercars, but results in one nice thing - ability to roll while cornering. I locked one side of front suspension with axle just for photo. Here you can see that nice body angle) And, as you can see at this photo - 4L axles with stop increase width of vehicle too much. 3L axles with stud cause friction or/and increse turning radius, so, i already wait for new 3L axles with stop) Close view of rear suspesnion. I want to replace 4 cylinder fake engine with V12 - it will suit sportcar idea more. And another function that i want to add - gullwing doors with small actuators. Or not gullwing, i don't decide it yet) Having small turntable + 2 small actuators in A-model can lead me to make some tractor with some cool device as B-model. May be they both will be Lamborghini, but i doubt these wheels will fit for both) Quote
A Gallifreyan Cat Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 You might want to look into a smaller engine model if you want a V12. Have you seen this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsOZaLeu2DU ? Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 I've seen another implemetation of same idea. Yes, i want to make something exactly like this) Quote
zweihander Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 So far, so good! I love the body rolling body idea. I also like the long engine, reminds me of the Top Gear episode where these two are pitted against each other: And that mini engine implementation also exists in the b-model of 9393 as an inline-4, but the principle is the same. Victor Imaginator Posted December 6, 2015 Author Posted December 6, 2015 Small update: - W12 piston engine, - sligtly increased wheelbase, - yellow chairs. W-shaped engine is much more complicated than V, so i used not single crankshaft, but three) I think that it looks now as valves driven by 3 camshafts, but not a pistons. Anyway i like how it looks. And more important - i like how it sounds, i already spent at least 30 minutes just driving around kitchen table and listening to it. Here's some insides, if someone like to see. Nearest plans - i want to hide exhaust somewhere between wheels and engine, not so cool, but more realistic; it's possible to make handbrake or/and clutch, so i'll add some more functionality; and i want to move HOG somewhere. muffinbrick Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Wow, I'm really impressed This whole rear section is great, especialy engine! Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 awsome keep going i like it, can't wait to see the bodywork Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Another small update. I'm not happy with my bodywork, but it's all i got now) My wife like the sound of W12 too - yesterday she was driving around kitchen table all hour, that she was talking phone) I'll make a video to show how it sounds soon. Jurss Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Seats angle is not good, by my opinion. And it is starting to look like batmobil ... Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Yes, i'll make another seats later. And after last hour it become even more batmobilish) I think i'm far from good at paneling. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Indeed a little atmobilish or Mad Max-ish... It is hard to model with panels, you just have to hang in there and fine tune things... I can not be of any help, don't use panels at all! Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Another update... Almost all bodywork removed, added working steering wheel and handbrake. Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Another update. Now i'm satisfied with seats and steering) Took a long time to make all things compact. Quote
JM1971 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 These are much better for you, very handy for puffin when your busy doing builds. Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Thanks, i'll better stay with regular ones... Anyway, is it really matters?) Quote
