After seeing some of X-Pod dragon MOCs from Megan at LEGO Fan-weekend in Skrbk '07, I had to find out what this little product line that I missed out on was all about. Luckily there was a shop that sold this set, so here is a review.

The box

A nice box design for such a small set. The 3 models are shown.

The content

60 pieces (including the ones for the pod) and an instructions sheet is what you find inside of the pod

The models

The primary model is a small jet. I'm sure it is a Saab from Sweden because of those colors. It has some details like the intake underneath the body made of a wheel

The second model is a helicopter where the front can be tilted because of the way it is connected to the rest of the body. I do not like the way the yellow 4L lightsaber is connected to the main body. It is quite hard to pull apart again.

The last model doesn't use many pieces, and I'm not quite sure what it is supposed to be, but it uses the pod!

Conclusion

Overall I like this set. You get pretty many pieces for the money although they are quite small. The models aren't really that great compared to those from the 491x-series, but they are also almost twice the price and you don't get a pod.

I'm not sure the set is on sale anymore. It appeared to be a clearance sale where I got it. I can recommend it because of the rare pod-pieces and with such a small price tag it's hard to argue against it.

I wanted this set soooo much by it exceeded my budget.... :-P Errr... actually I bought this for my boy, who then broke it and barely used any of the pieces. (He is a bit of a Lego disapointment at this stage. :'-( ) Thanks for the review and for making all the models. *sweet* I think it's a great set. All we made was the plane, which I saw more as a F-16 due to the singular intake on the bottom. (The Saab Gripen has two intakes on the sides.)

:-D :-D :-D I almost fell of my chair, actually my stool, when I read this. One question: Is it too late to send him back? 8-|

Thanks for the review Lasse D! *sweet* I do like how they made the pod compatible with the LEGO system...very enlightening! :-)

He builds odd things (like Krabby Pattie Spaceships :-| ) and still doesn't do overlapping. I think he's going to be an artist... :-/ As for sending him back I don't think that factory takes returns. I'll ask the manager later. :-P

I don't have this set but I do have the robot X-Pod, which I think is a great mini set. It comes with 2 cool robots, a bit bigger than minifig size, a weird pod thing like the others, and tons of 1x1 silver round peices! *wub*

Thanks again!

This is a nice review, thanks Lasse D! The plane looks very similar to a freebie gained from spending over $40, only the freebie was red and white.

My good friend, known here as dragonater, had the robot X-pod, which he had not built! X-O So, with his permission, I took it and tried my first bag-build. Maybe, if he's reading this, he could post the pic? X-D

:-D :-D :-D So when do we get to see those? Does a Krabby Pattie Spaceship have artificial gravity? Did you lecture him about the importance of thrusters? Where was the power sauce? Oops, I mean source. Hey, I'm not a parent myself, but I'd suggest holding off the :-| until he graduates from engineering art school. :-P

I forgot to give a link to the Megan I saw with the X-pods. Here are some of her creations.

I'm glad you like the review. I see it is better will all big pictures. A big project was finished yesterday night, so I felt the natural thing was to celebrate it with a review of something. Seeing that this set wasn't reviewed in here yet... well :-P

(...) All we made was the plane, which I saw more as a F-16 due to the singular intake on the bottom. (The Saab Gripen has two intakes on the sides.)

Blue with yellow details = Sweden, plane in Sweden = Saab in my view of the world. If it was red, I would say it's a MIG - I know so little about this field :-P

(...) and these colors make it even look like something from the Classis Space line.... :'-)

If only the windscreen was yellow! *wub*

The pod has TrYellow decoration, so it's deffinetly possible to build some Classic Space models... and I'm also pretty sure I have seen it somewhere.

Thanks for this review Lasse D! *sweet*

1x1 silver pieces? That alone makes it sound much better than this set! Unfortunately this one was the only one at sale in the shop :'-(

A freebie? Are you telling me this looks like an ice cube tray!? :-D Just kidding. I only know about the tray as a freebie from Hinckley's thread.

Why didn't I remember to bag build this set? Du'h :-|

Don't know. He doesn't like figures either. *wacko*

Did you lecture him about the importance of thrusters? Where was the power sauce? Oops, I mean source.

Yes, but his eyes glazed over. :-D Yesterday I was demonstrating why one should overlap pieces but I'm not sure if he cared. :-/

The later you leave these things the harder it becomes. :'-( Your advice will be ignored.

I've seen her stuff before. I like her Tragons! :-D

Don't mind me, I'm just a twit. :-$
