Hey.

I'm new.

I'm old (34). I teach history at a junior high school (7th Grade), and I like LEGO. Married, with two little boys, and stuff like that.

My favorite LEGO...well, there's a lot. Star Wars, Batman, Harry Potter (RIP), I'm really liking the new Skeleton Army Castle sets, and the new City sets. And then when Indiana Jones hits next year, I'll need to get a new job to help pay for all the sets I'll be buying.

Anyway, that's me.

Nice to meet y'all.

Welcome to our little corner of LEGOland pops! X-D Ok, ok, I'm about your age as well ;-)

Ah, excellent, two more being raised properly and brought into the world right with LEGO. Hopefully they love it as much as you, or did they get you into it? I've always wondered if that happened, some perfectly normal adult never exposed to LEGO suddenly gets infected by exposure to their children's collection.

Of course having kids probably makes buying LEGO look a bit less unusual as well, but then you have to share it with them. Tough balance there ;-)

And on that note, have fun, we do! *wacko*

Hi jedikermit. Welcome to EB the wonderful Lego site for the "mellow" addict. (I love the different meanings of the word mellow *sweet* )

Sad enough there are no senior offers at S@H. ;-)

Old? Many members here are over 30! *sweet* I'm one of them. Welcome to Eurobricks, oldie central.... 8-|

Thanks, guys.

I only discovered Eurobricks a few weeks ago...I guess I've known about it for longer than that, but never been here. I assumed it was uh...a bunch of Frenchies. No offense intended. My other fear is that it was a bunch of Germans, and even though I lived in Heidelberg for a few years, I'd be afraid my horrible German would be showing. (My horrible language skills, not my own personal German Person.) I've been a member at FBTB.net for many years now, although...not that active. I basically lurk for information about sets. It seems like the inmates are running the asylum there half the time. No offense intended.

Wow.

Uh, I've been into LEGO since I was 14, took a short break, Star Wars and Harry Potter sucked me back in big time.

My boys are 3 and 5, and they've got all of the Thomas Duplo sets--the older one is starting to break into my Batman and Star Wars sets here and there. We'll have to have some father/son bonding.

And I live in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I think that's all the questions.

Thanks for the welcome--I feel right at home!

A history teacher! What is your favorite period in history?

You are most welcome here!

My favorite time period to learn about is European History from about 400 AD - 1870 AD, but my favorite to teach is 20th Century History.

I can't stand the American Revolution or American Civil War, but that's because I had horrible teachers myself.

I've got a U2 poster on the wall of my classroom, if that counts for anything...

No, they were Dubs ;-)

Hello and welcome on eurobricks :-)

I don't think you're old.

By the way, who is the eldest member here? I don't think there is someone elder than+/- 50.

You just got underwear duty too, pal :-|

Welcome to EB, jedikermit! I actually have a few friends who are starting teaching now (just graduated college), and I'm currently an instructor for the Princeton Review for SAT classes for some extra cash :-D It's fun...when you can control the kids. I just finished teaching the worst, oversexed bunch of kids I've ever seen...how do you deal with something like that? I wasn't able to keep them in their seats, or able to keep them from spraying water on each other or drawing "organs" on each other's books :-| I think it's because I'm so close in age to them but I need to watch out in case i have another group like that.

Hope you enjoy EB *sweet*

Thanks for the welcome...

Honestly, the kids I teach are 12/13 years old, and even though some of them are a bit unruly, they're really still just kids for the most part. They still want to make adults happy, they're still small enough to "know their place," and on the whole, I have a good relationship with them. They don't get too crazy in my class. I tend to get them all wound up, and then send them off to their math and English classes. *y*
