Why Noah's Ark? The mission here was to put two of every minifig and driod from Lego space (in this case from about year 1999 back to the beginning) into a frame to hang on my wall. I really wanted a big piece of Lego wall art just to look at. IMO Lego has produced such an amazing line of minifigs in the space theme right from the beginning so to have them all in one place to look and celebrate seemed to me like a good idea.

The build consists of an Ikea Ribba picture frame, a lot of 2x6 and 1x6 plates, plus other smaller plates that were required to fill in the gaps. I also needed a number of 2x5 bricks to stack the layers of minifigs. I decided early on that I did not just want a frame with minifigs; I thought it would be cool to fill the sides in with tons of trans clear parts from the various sets as well as decorated plates and slopes that have the various set's logos on them. To really make the colors pop out I back filled the rest of the empty places with black space objects.

I almost accomplished my mission of having 2 of every minifig and droid (i do have 2 of every droid), but I ran out of room for a couple minifigs. I needed about 6 more spaces.

Hope you guys like it, and sorry about the picture in advance, winter is here in Canada and natural light is not in abundance.

Really nice. I must say, the addition of the various space elements on the sides really brings the whole thing to another level. There are plenty of frames full of minifigs out there, but that added detail does make this feel a lot more like it was meant to be wall art rather than just a display... which it was! Excellent. :sweet:
