quilkin Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I'm building a modular house (to replicate my own house) and disappointed by the choice of door colours available for a 'standard' internal 4x6 door (part 60606). Most internal doors in actual buildings are made of wood, and although many are painted many are left as bare wood. So why don't we have any tan, dark tan, brown or red-brown doors? I tried buying some 'flesh' doors but they look garish. Maybe I should just buy trans-clear doors and paint them - anyone tried painting lego parts? Quote
Withacee Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Painting Lego parts? Aaaaaaaargh! Most of us just make do with what TLG offers, parts- and colour-wise. Part of the challenge of MOC'ing. Bricklink will give you all the colours a part has been produced in and is available in for purchase. You'll just have to improvise. I agree that it would be nice for some parts to be available in certain colours ( I -like many others- would have some serious requests to TLG), but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Keep clicking thost bricks together, nonetheless! Quote

It would be a let down to have painted bricks in a nice model.. or it would actually be awful... Quote
Dan-147 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 It would seem that reddish brown doors will finally be available in 2016, Check out the pictures of 75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters http://brickset.com/sets/75827-1/Ghostbusters-Firehouse-Headquarters The easiest way to get them will probably be through LEGO Bricks and Pieces. Dan-147 i hadn't seen the interior of the GB HQ yet... But there are at least 4 doors that have some kind of reddish brown colored 'glass' window in it.. Look pretty good.. Thinking about that.. does the mirror from the Barber (Detective's Office) fit in a doorframe? A mirror-door would be cool too... Quote
pirzyk Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 There is also part 60623 that comes in reddish brown, but it has four windows. What about doing a brick built door instead? Quote
quilkin Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 Thanks for all the responses.... Painting Lego parts? Aaaaaaaargh! I agree, I only suggested this to get some reaction It would seem that reddish brown doors will finally be available in 2016, Check out the pictures of 75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters http://brickset.com/...se-Headquarters Now, that looks promising, thanks There is also part 60623 that comes in reddish brown, but it has four windows. What about doing a brick built door instead? Yeah, seen that, but a windowed door is usually external, and external doors are usually painted in real buildings. TLG seem to have got this the wrong way round! Also, tried a brick-built door, but it's almost impossible to make them close - see my other thread http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=116941 Quote

I'll definitely be ordering some of those in the future, if they surface on Bricklink. Thinking about that.. does the mirror from the Barber (Detective's Office) fit in a doorframe? A mirror-door would be cool too... According to Bricklink, the mirror is 4x7 studs, which would mean that it will not fit in a 1x4x6 frame That would be a pity. http://alpha.brickli...age?P=20193#T=C Maybe we can cut it to size? -Noel- Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 My advice would be to make a brick built door. It wouldn't swing, but that'll get you more realism. Quote

I don't have the set, but isn't this mirror just a 4x6 trans-clear window with an added backing? If so I don't see how it helps my door problem! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Simpsons House also has nougat colored doors. And some Friends sets have white doors. I've used those. These are solid, no windows. Perfect for interior doors. Quote

It was just in my mind the mirror might fit, but i never tried! Actually funny and a coincidence.. I've never seen a mirror-door before here on EB... Is there anyone willing to try to fit the mirror in a frame and make a picture of it? Quote
