doug7172 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I'm moving on and getting a few old sets before my departure. . Traitor! >:-( :'-( How could you? Well will certinally miss you :'-( Quote
madoka Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I suppose blue coat is more popular, as I see more of them in creations than red coats, plus, blue coat armies have certainly surpassed the number of red coat armies! Hey! My 400+ Redcoat army disagrees! Plus I found I have another 75 or so bounty boats sets unopened, so if any blue coat army gets close in size, I can instantly add another 150 more troops. *sweet* Quote
Scouty Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Ok, besides you madoka, who has a large lovely army. I like both factions, and I would decide to get both sides. Two small sets, with two different factions is better than one large set with 1 faction. Quote
Dovchenko Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 Everyone's going to disagree with me on this one, I know it. But I feel like it's very important... ...seeing as my first set WAS King Kahuka (giving it away), I just can't resist getting all of the ISLANDER sets. This is a HUGE leap from the Imperials, I know. But they were originally my idea of departure sets. However, I also would enjoy having some pirates. With the Islanders, you get an obnoxious amount of rowboats, and no offence, this doesn't make much of a force. So, I found two good lots with the RR and the... SES! Making it: Enchanted Island Forbidden Cove King Kahuka's Throne Crocodile Cage Islander Catamaran King Kahuka (rebuying because I'd like the all MISB.) Skull's Eye Schooner Renegade Runner 8 Lovely Sets, though expensive, I may try to collect them anyway. I get 10$ a week from chores, and though that's no enough, perhaps an actual second job would get me those sets quickly. I take extremely good care of my sets, washing them in seperate pieces (unless they're huge, then I seperate them into "sections") and displaying them. Felt/non lego pieces are inspected and washed, of course. Quote
Dovchenko Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 I dunno about Islanders, I like them and all but they don't really make you feel "piratey"... Suggestions are extremely welcome. Quote
Opproperaar Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I dunno about Islanders, I like them and all but they don't really make you feel "piratey"...Suggestions are extremely welcome. Well yes, but they offer many possibilities when used in concjunction with the redcoats/pirates/spanish/bluecoats They could be extremely hostile cannibals/smart deceiving cannibals/plain, normal cannibals/savages/a friendly tribe that engages in trade Don't you read explorer/sailing vessel novels like the Aubrey-Maturin series or Robinson Crusoe or The adventures of Captain Singleton or perhaps some thing by Alexander Kent then? Especially those by Daniel Defoe have a lot of islanders in them. Anydboy here who likes to read and hasn't read any of those, I highly recommend them *y* In any case, my point is, Islanders in conjunction with the pirate theme offers possibilties, a lot of possibilties in my opinion. I wish I had some, unfortunately, at the time I was not yet smart enough to buy those as well. Quote
