davidmull Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Hi I'm new to collecting figures my interests are Lego trains and technic mostly. Recently Iv got the itch for figures and started buying some. I'm trying to pick up the rarest and most collectible figure from each series 1-14. Also the rarer ones I like. So far Iv got Demolition dummy Gingerbread man Statue of Liberty Mechanic Sleepy head Madusa Hot dog guy I think I'm in the rite direction but what others are going to be the most valuable or hard get in years to come. I want to maybe make up 16 of the best from all series. Also what's the best most wanted super hero figs Iv got Spider-Man only so far. Iv a lot of train stuff still misb ie Emerald night , train shed etc but this will be my new theme. These are the above that came today all sealed bar sleepy Edited November 9, 2015 by davidmull Quote
samurai-turtle Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Also what's the best most wanted super hero figs Iv got Spider-Man only so far. Probably Batman (or Iron-Man) since he is in most of the (super hero) sets. Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Demolition, isn't that like the most common one from Series 1? Check WhiteFang's CMF reviews for rarest figs. Hot Dog guy is rarest in S13 for sure . . . Quote
Steve309 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Mr Gold !! Prices for that are way too high Its more expensive then real gold Quote

sunhuntin Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) unicorn girl and the king are two that were sought after. rare? likely, i really dont know. Edited November 9, 2015 by sunhuntin Quote
Chilis Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I`ve heard that the figs with animal costumes are most wanted and therefore goes for the highest prices. Quote
Sven F Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Don't forget the zombies, though popularity may be declining now. Quote
notaromantic Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Well, I'm assuming that someone with over 1900 posts is familiar with BrickLink. Get on there, and like a peeper into any market of interest, browse where the CMF's are trending in price. I don't collect figures like I once did, but every now and then, I will check in on certain figs, or I will run across the trending selling price of a fig while looking for parts, etc.. and I am always amazed at what some of the CMF's are commanding these days, that, only a year ago, were still relatively low. But then again, with LEGO being at a high, it might not be the best time to be buying in. But, I know, the human whim is non-negotiable with when piqued. If you're gonna do it, target the highest first, look for sellers dumping in lots, listing mistakes, and be weary of clone-brands. And chances are, the same characters you find yourself adoring, for whatever reason, are those same rare and expensive, HTF figs - they are, for those same reasons, to many others also. davidmull Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 Thanks guys. I just taught there would be a tread on the best or most wanted from each series but can't find much. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 S1: Zombie/Nurse S2: Spartan S3: Elf/Gorilla Guy S4: Hockey Guy (barely) S5: Lizard Man/Graduate (strangely) S6: Roman Soldier S7: Bunny Suit Guy S8: Fairy/Actor S9: Waiter/Forest Maiden/Chicken Suit Guy S10: Bee Girl (by a landslide), Librarian, Medusa, Sea Captain, Grandpa, Trendsetter ( amazing how many from this series) S11: Grandma, Scarecrow, Islander, Saxaphine Player S12: None (Spooky Girl is the only one that's worth even $4 S13: None (Again, Hot Dog Man and Unicorn Girl man are worth ~$4) Then of course, Mr. Gold is the most collectible minifig from all the CMFs, but they made him ridiculously rare, and he's more of a currency then a CMF in my opinion. He would be too valuable to keep in my collection, I'd rather have the Sandcrawler or the Death Star than a $350 display figure. Quote
Sven F Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 You might want to concentrate on what might be the most sought after figure in the current wave. To be honest, I can't really tell for the monster series, popularity seems to be divided very evenly among the figs, there is no obvious stand out. It always amazes me what things make a certain fig popular in the end. Like the graduate is probably given as a gift to actual graduates, the "furries" made a collectible niche for themselves within the series, some characters come with animals that can't be acquired anywhere else like the sea captain. For example I am stacking up witches even though I have no interest in witches I just need to get as many black cats as I can. Quote

Quote
Rogue Angel Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 No lady liberty? My list is based off relative value on BL according to each series, not specific rarity by distribution. Lady liberty is more valuable than the hockey player, but she's nowhere near the bunny guy selling for $28!!! Quote
timmyc1983 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Gorilla Suit Guy is a biggy, I can't find one cheap anywhere and have been trying for 2 years now. Also Bunny Suit Guy, I was lucky and got it cheap a couple of years ago but it's pricey now! Quote
BrickOn Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 what about the Series 10 Bee Girl... she's pretty pricey, more than the most of the animal suit people... and the rest of that series, okay maybe not Medusa? Quote

I missed Beegirl, I was looking at the Super Lot prices. I have added her above. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Bee Girl is rather pricey (she's also you know, the one furry I don't own...figures!). Just a couple weeks ago I was at Brickworld Fort Wayne and I was walking with Hinckley around the vendors--we were searching out CMFs--and she was by far the priciest one we found. Most CMFs topped out at around $25 (even Spartans), but we were astonished to see the Bee Girl commanding $40! Granted convention vendors often price-hike their stuff, but still... I only own one or so each of those other rare figures listed; although I think I manged to get five Hot Dog men somehow. Hopefully in the future I can sell them for a car or a house or something. Dannylonglegs Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Bee Girl is rather pricey (she's also you know, the one furry I don't own...figures!). Same here! And she's the Insect Furry! Why must things I need cost so much! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
BrickOn Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Same here! And she's the Insect Furry! Why must things I need cost so much! ~Insectoid Aristocrat I need her and chicken suit guy... I caught the bunny cheap on ebay (without his carrot) and managed to get the others, since I only started collecting properly at series 12. I found her head at Legoland, in the crazy-messed up minifigure trading selection, so now I am hoping to get her cheap with the wrong head... had a look on ebay though and there seem to be loads of fakes being sold, so now I don't know if I will trust to buy her there. davidmull Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Ok well after only a few weeks collecting I'm doing good and have the most wanted most are new so that bottom row was expensive. Just to get the bunny guy and I'm happy. Quote
