AAG Spitta - LEGO Channel Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 The stuff on eBay from China (obviously a LEGO knockoff) ... I just cant comprehend. Bad quality Bad printing Most start at $.99 as a bidding war (Most get like 1 bid because there are so many. They have taken over) So sad... For some reason they are everywhere. Share your thoughts. PaddyBricksplitter Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 They suck. I bought one by accident and threw it out minutes after receiving it. Quote
anothergol Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I've been watching some on youtube and they look pretty much the same to me. Bootlegs aren't necessarily bad - I have a huge collection of mostly anime stuff, which is generally hand-painted. I have atrocious bootlegs, bought on purpose for the fun of it & comparison, and I have bootlegs that are better than the originals (& the original sometimes sucks badly). ..but minifigs are machine-painted, & they can do it right for a low price. I'm not collecting minifigs but I hope it's not gonna devalue them, because they're what keep Bricklink parts cheap. But anyway, bootlegs are probably ok for kids (yeah.. possibly unhealthy paint.. but the dimwits who eat their Lego are also eating all the dirt from the floor anyway) - kids don't buy 10+ eur minifigs, they mostly get them from sets. Plus, in the case that Lego is more focusing on the minifigs than classic parts because of the (legal) competition on parts, a little competition on the minifigs may make them focus back on the parts? That wouldn't be bad. Quote

SweetiePie88 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 What r u talking about? The quality is just fine and, unlike attempting to buy most of the "real deals" out there, these things are actually AFFORDABLE! I was able to get my hands on a full wave of series 1 knock offs for 12 bucks when the "real" thing, also chinese made, costs at least 120-150 for the full set in the after market. AND i recently ordered 2 knock off chima gators, one for $1.25 and the other for .62. One knock off chima lion that i've been wanting for $1.25. And a whopping 74 cents for a knock off Green ninjago ninja. The only thing stopping me from tracking down a few more things to knock off my wanted list is i chose to pick up 4 books from amazon instead. my ONLY regret is that i didn't buy a second set of series 1 knock offs when i had the chance to since now i can't find them on ebay! BrickOn Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Seems like a good argument for lego to just release the old CMF series with slightly updated printing (maybe) it means everyone can own the real thing and potentially lessens the need for people to resort to dodgy second hand markets and risk getting knock offs. I don't care if it devalues my collections, I collect for me, not for resale value. Quote
PaddyBricksplitter Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I got the Highland warrior knock off from China via eBay and the head would not go on due to a manufacturing error. No quality control or customer service. Hence binning it. Quote
