Orlego Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 From the Lego Life Newsletter (edited) ... Lego System of Play celebrates its 50th anniversary beginning in August and will be marked by the appearance of four special bulk buckets and tubs (two Lego Duplo and two Lego Creator). Each of these products will contain a handful of limited edition "gold" bricks commemorating the golden year of the system of play - plus a Legoland California offer of one free child's admission and discount coupons for other tickets. Promotional products will be placed in a total of 17.5 million breakfast cereal packets, and negotiations are proceeding with Pepsi and other brands. There may be a partnership with the American National Trust for Historic Preservation - and there will be building competitions and other fun and games at Legoland California. Tie-ins will include special campaigns at Toys-R-Us and other stores, and will also be profiled in the Lego Club and Brickmaster magazines. Lego may have similar promos in Europe but the article makes it sound like it is a US only thing. Quote
