Greetings,

I am looking for some advice from all you talented landscapers out there. I want to build a large scale display for all my Winter Village sets this year, and I want to do a snow covered landscape. I have plenty of white plates, slopes, bricks, etc. That's not my issue. My question is, what's the best approach? How do you do your landscaping and contouring? Do you sketch it out? Build by trial and error? I plan to use primary colored (red, yellow, blur, etc.) bricks as supports under things like hills and cover it in white for the most part. Do you use lots of smaller pieces like 1x1, 1x2, 2x2 plates, or do you generally use larger pieces?

Thanks!

Eric

Whoa! That was actually pretty helpful.

So, the main problem here seems to be the actual parts needed instead of the placement of them, in my case. I think I can do that part. But how am I gonna get all that? Online obviously, but still, geez that is a lot!

Agreed. I'm ok with designing the look & feel of the landscaping I want, but knowing the right parts will be very helpful. Looks like a lot of 1x4, 1x2, and 1x1 plates along with some 2x2 and 2x4 plates.

Glad to be able to help :classic:

It never hurts having large amounts of small plates, tiles, slopes. Which is what i would guess you will be in need of creating a winter landscape for your village.

If you need a lot of one particular piece, you may be able to get a bulk box through your local Lego store (if there's one near you). My understanding is that this service is offered based on permission of the local store manager; wouldn't hurt to check.
