tkel86 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Here is my last steampunk MOC it´s a moving house a little bit inspired on the howl's moving castle ideology but a lot diferent. the house is composed by 6 levels, the first one is the entrance and the mechanical room. Up one level and you are in the acomodation part, next level it´s the control room and storage area with a crane to lift material. Just above you can see a cultivation area with some vegetals. The two last levels are the landing area for a quadcopter and at last the motor ,chimney, antenas and satellite dish. The rotation from the treads go all the way to the motor and the satellite dish. And all superior part can rotate using a crank at the base. More photos: flickr I hope you enjoy! Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Really cool moving steampunk tower! I love how eclectic the different parts of it look! Excellent stem punk fantasy vibe going on! My favorite part I think is the white window section! Kind of reminds me of the Time Cruisers theme. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
___ Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Interesting concept indeed... ...but does it have any modularity or is it just one big piece that cannot do anything except moving on those treads? Cos it'd be really lost chance as there could potentially be so much of it! Quote
tkel86 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 Thanks for the positive replies! #bubliblbe when you talk of modularity, is for binding with other mocs or is the existence of modularity between the own tower levels? The connection between buildings as this will integrate a display I thought about doing a drawbridge to connect the house to others buildings. If you're talking about levels modularity, it will be awesome but very complicated to transmit rotation to the top or make it stable to rotate it all as it does at the moment. Quote
___ Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) If you're talking about levels modularity, it will be awesome but very complicated to transmit rotation to the top or make it stable to rotate it all as it does at the moment. This was the right one, yea... Anyway, I was not talking about rotation but rather some kind of "this part can be opened and there is a small vehicle that can be connected to or disconnected from the main tower, if you fold this latch it will open a room where you can place some stuff etc." and such. You know: to go a step forward not just making some extremely interestingly looking stuff - which you already did in a superb way and I am applauding for that to you - but add something more to it than just that, so that the person "playing" with it won't get bored right after building it...simply put there some enigma, innuendo, something one can explore (in a way: "Yayks, so it can also do this and this and this...?"). Maybe this could be good reason / starting point for updated v2? Edited October 23, 2015 by bublible Quote
tkel86 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 ok i could had even more playability to it, but i already had a good number of functions, theirs a brick light in the control room, the all body can rotate using 1 crank at the base , the motor and satelite dish at the top rotate when the treads moves, i put a folded quadcopter standing in a suport that can be unfold when detached from the tower, and you even got a working crane.
