Sir Stig Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I am working on my first MOC, using bricks that I already had (with the exeption of the 2x8 dark red slopes on the roof that I PaB'd at Outlands, Oslo). I got surprised how much that falls into place while building freestyle, and how much I enjoyed making a building that way. I have a few LDD MOCs where I am going over everything in much more detail, so it was refreshing to build with real bricks. I started with the roof, with only a slight idea about the color scheme. So far I like how colorful it seems to turn out and at the same time has some realism. I am planning on keeping the outside ventilation, but it looks a little bland on the short side of the second floor, so I might move the ventilation and place a door with hook for lifting up ingredients. The baseplate is a crossing, simply because I don't have enough baseplates. The sign only says rum at the moment, because I'm not very good at coming up with original names. And I just wanted to get a feel of the whole building, so I can see where I need to make adjustments. Entrance and delivery platform. Brewery [MOC,WIP] by Sir_Stig, on Flickr Sorry for the bad pictures, I have a lot to learn about photography and photo editing. I don't really know how a brewery looks inside, but I am trying to get most of the production steps in there (just now realized I need to cool down the liquid before they go on to the maturing casks). Feedback and comments are welcome :) Quote
Sir Stig Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Nice build. Moonshine ehh ? Thank you. Possibly moonshine. Unsure if the hipsterpreneur upstairs have recieved his brewing license yet :) Quote
Withacee Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) Besides the fact that, if it's rum they're producing, it's technically not a brewery but a distillery , this is a very nice start! I like the colour combinations. Looking forward to seeing more of the interior in the future. Edited October 22, 2015 by Withacee Quote
Sir Stig Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Besides the fact that, if it's rum they're producing, it's technically not a brewery but a distillery , this is a very nice start! I like the colour combinations. Looking forward to seeing more of the interior in the future. That's true. Thank you for pointing that out. I have not decided yet about what they should produce yet. How I end up making the interior and production line, will dictate what it will end up as. I will try to fit it into the history of my city. I want to make a realistic infrastructure and topography that makes sense, but have not decided location and why it became a city in the first place. I am thinking of a former trade location for crops of some sort, with a museum showing some of the finds from old (colonial, a few caste items), that have converted to more of a tourist based/locally produced products, but I am early in the process. I plan on having an old city, with some buildings from every blossoming period preserved, some ruins, some old but modernized buildings, and a few new buildings. For all the purists out there, be warned for this and my coming MOCs. I must admit that I am cheating, because of a loose brick lot I bought without making sure it was Lego. So the roof side windows and some of the green 2x4 bricks (slightly darker green) is not Lego. My lack of windows makes me have to use them until I get a proper supply of real windows going. Although the windows look ok for now, they are fragile and very prone to discoloration. Quote
Brick Capone Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Very cool. I like the interior, exterior, and really the entire build. Great job. Quote
Kristel Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Nice! I particularly like the colour combination and the skylights. I struggled to read the sign though, and was wanting trying to read the red letters before I realised that I was supposed to be reading the yellow! Maybe swap the colours around in the sign? Quote
