Chuck Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 (edited) The Hummingbird is an experimental air and space light support unit meant to drop in supplies (hence the supply rack on back). It is a one man craft and also can be sold to civilians. Gallery here. -Chuck Edited September 30, 2007 by Chuck Quote
Hinckley Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Chuck, I generally like your creations as you are great at showing lots of detail in small creations and are the master of "illegal" techniques. However, my walrus friend Sinner has made me a spacecraft power source female canine and I have to say my main gripe with your ship is that there doesn't seem to be a realistic power source... :-/ (Sinner, aren't you proud of me? :'-) ) And the driver seems pretty crammed in there. I hope he has a good insurance plan because he's going to need mental and physical attention after being cramped up in that tiny cockpit. Besides that, it's as ingenious as all of your other cool creations. I especially love the rack and the landing gear. & very very clever use of the Forestman's hat! :-D Quote
john cleese Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 chuck i generally like your creations but i also generally dont like "ilegal" techniques, especially where one takes a tile and attaches clips to it. I would think a proper connection would have looked better instead of your current supply rack design. Also the shovel landing gear looks too much like shovels. The rest is tops as usual. I especially like the tail with the red light at the end. Quote
Chuck Posted September 30, 2007 Author Posted September 30, 2007 Whats with people and so-called "illegal techniques" latley? -Chuck Quote
john cleese Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Whats with people and so-called "illegal techniques" latley?-Chuck they are illegal as far as the companies designers are concerned. Some people like them but i guess hinkley and I arent big fans. Quote

I actually never said I didn't like them, I just call Chuck the master of them...it was actually a compliment. :-$ He uses them quite well. Quote
Starwars4J Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Well the main problem with the "illegal" techniques John mentioned is that they're not nearly as sturdy as normal connections, so you need to be careful not to sneeze around them :-D I'm all for people finding new and creative ways to attach pieces, but using certain techniques which can damage the parts is the same as using custom parts IMO, takes the creativity out of it. My only concern with this is that the "window" isn't really a window, but that's minor. Quote

The window has been fixed so that there are clear plates under it. -Chuck Quote
Siegfried Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 (Sinner, aren't you proud of me? :'-) ) I think you are still the master, and I, the learner. :-P Not all illegal techniques are unsturdy. In fact, some are sturdier than legal techniques. But that is one of the biggest reasons why I don't like them. They either don't fit and are too loose, or they are too tight and damage pieces. That is what makes them illegal. But is all a personal preference though and while I love the look of your work, I rarely comment on it because it often makes me cringe. It is a shame that I don't like illegal part usage because you are so darn good at it. 8- Quote

Siegfried Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Bah, spare me your space-age technobabble X-D -Chuck technobabble? technobabble! technobabble *sing* Have you seen me make a Star Trek MOC! I think you are using the wrong word to insult me. I am more accurately described as a "self servicer". If I used technobabble I would be making up stuff to explain things. I don't even allow artificial gravity in my MOCs! :-| ;-) Quote
Chuck Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 I am more accurately described as a "self servicer". So you service yourself daily, I presume?;-) -Chuck Quote
Siegfried Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 So you service yourself daily, I presume?;-)-Chuck Nah, I'm a "Self Servicer" in all ways but the literal one! The last time I needed to do that I was in the Navy. I didn't marry my wife for just conversation after all... 8-| Quote

Siegfried Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Or anti-gravity :'-( Think of their bone density! *sing* There are other ways of getting exercise to combat that! Haven't you ever heard of the Russian Penguin Prophylactic Body-Loading Suit? Quote

Is that the suit that periodically inflates around some of the joints in order to increase circulation? That still requires a large amount of exercise, it gets tedious. Think of the figs :'-( Quote
