chubays Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Hi! The initial idea at me appeared long ago after I saw Sariel Future Plan to build Libherr 1250. There was a wish to OVERTAKE Sariel. But then I only thought up the concept and considered couple of concrete knots, without having assembled this crane. Now I will try to finish it with some redesigning. And of course it is competition so someone has to lose! And all others are too good for loss! At first I was puzzled with steering opportunity both to turn, and to go sideways (crab). Moreover I was inspired in many respects by Grove GMK6400 Mobile Crane by Blakbird, gerger and others. First I planned to make two cariar options: with and without suspension and both with instructions ! But I didn't calculate the forces Here some screenshots of LDD for todays project. O!!! And EVERY outriger works separate!!! AND there still only 8 PF chanels! Quote
Saberwing40k Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Looks ambitious. But, your steering system might have issues with slack, and gear racks not centering correctly. I still wish you the best of luck with this. Quote

aminnich Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Wow, that thing is massive! I am wondering why all of the outriggers are going to be separate? is it so it is more like the actual crane. If so that if a lot of extra for a small function. But it will give your crane an extra touch, nice idea!! Quote

aminnich Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Personally i think if you are going to do this, i should not make it remote control. Actually have the gear selected by hand. it does not look like you are doing it this way, but i still love the idea. You would not think that it would really count, but it really does. Great idea dude! Quote
chubays Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) aminnich This gear box is version 3.4 or even 3.5 and first I made it in real (sorry no photos yet) test it and only then make it in LDD! Edited October 11, 2015 by chubays Quote
chubays Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 Well... Very heavy night or even two on final realization thought up in Lego is necessary to me. That is to collect everything completely, not in parts! In parts everything works remarkably! Here some pictures of a mechanical component of base of the crane without superstructure and a boom: (I used models for L and Servo motors as they aren't present in LDD) Quote
bonox Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Looks very interesting. It will be exciting for you to see if the real thing meets your expectations. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Looks very interesting. It will be exciting for you to see if the real thing meets your expectations. Agree with that at all!!! Very impressive build so far! Quote
chubays Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Hello! I think I will not finish my model till 1 of November... I am very sorry! If I wouldn't - I will leave the contest! I'll add Video later! Explanation about steering/outriggers changing mode: Mode 1: normal steering, front outriggers Mode 2: crab steering, rear outriggers Quote
aminnich Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 That thing is huge!! And a lot of functions to need all those remotes, nicely done sir! My only question is are the 2 XL motors big enough to move it ?!?! Quote
chubays Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 nicely done sir! THANK YOU! My only question is are the 2 XL motors big enough to move it ?!?! Sure yes! Video will be ready little later! Quote
aminnich Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Sure yes! Video will be ready little later! I'll be waiting haha. Im really impressed with the change from LDD to bricks!! Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Whether you make it or not...it is an amazing build and you should finish it some day... Quote

aminnich Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 It works pretty good, i must say. I like the how the outriggers are extended seperately like a real crane. I also like the different steering modes. 1 question for ya; Is it true crab steering? Also, im a little concerned with the amount of gear crunching i hear, im not sure which function(s) it came from tho. Overall nice job Quote

Also, im a little concerned with the amount of gear crunching i hear, im not sure which function(s) it came from tho. Overall nice job As far as I know it is... Crunching is from mode changing, small gear (8) and worm gear. I use the system like http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=555022 BUT I used 4, not 3 shafts and motors and fifth motor for switching! It is red in post #8 This fifth motor also moves Servo Motor using small LA. Quote
aminnich Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 true crab steering has the same angle steering for all the axles, i could not quite tell from the video. Quote
chubays Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 (edited) true crab steering has the same angle steering for all the axles, i could not quite tell from the video. I used same gears and same racks. Different angles because of some friction of wheels about a surface. Edited October 24, 2015 by chubays Quote
bonox Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 wow - very impressive steering mode change. Well done! I look forward to seeing the rest of it come together and I hope you will finish it even if you can't make the competition deadline. Quote
chubays Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 Hello! As I sad before, I will not finish it until deadline, now that's because of the boom! I can use slightly changed 6 section boom from GMK6400, but thats not fair and my own boom will not be finished... So now I want to understand who want's this MOC to be finished (except me ) Quote
super-jaschka Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Go on! I would like to see the MOC ready. Quote
