iamded Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Okay, I'm willing to spend 40 bucks on these most, and saying the sets are 5 bucks each, that gives me 8. So, 5 knights, to bolster my army (I'd love to see a skeleton one of these...), a wizard, only need 1, maybe the garbage man and the police man, seeing as I don't have a dog, and that bin looks sweet. Then again, if I don't get those two, then I'll get nother wizard and soldier. :-D Army building ON! Quote

I will get them just for completion. The good city stuff lies in the Construction worker, which gives us a nice cement mixer (and one of those new round peices) to put around a construction yard, and, the best, the recycleman, so you can get lots of dumpsters and rubbishbins to layer round your city! ;-) I hope that if they make more city impulse sets, one will have a female civilian, infront of a lamp post, desperately need lamp posts.......... :'-( I don't understand all the hate for the MM ones, sure the line was crap, but the minirobot allows you to get a bunch of cool astronauts without having to buy the sets! *sweet* TTFN! >:-) Quote
KMOI Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Sweet Christmas. LEGO (with a few exceptions) can truly, TRULY do no wrong. When I saw the photos of the Castle, Star Wars, Spongebob and Indy sets, I knew 2008 was going to be the best year. But nothing in the world could ever prepare me THIS. See, I've prayed long and hard for LEGO to start releasing smaller sets such as these since 5 years ago. And at long last, LEGO comes out with not just a set dedicated solely to a minifig and related accessories, but an entire line to this! There are simply no words to describe how absolutely breathtaking this is for me. My quest has finally come to an end after 5 long years. LEGO now has my unending gratitude for this alone! As for the sets themselves, I am incredibly impressed. I just love how every set manages to capture each of the line's respective elements, from the Mars Mission Human's mini robot and mini fighter craft to the absolutely amazing City sets. I love and adore them all equally though the Wizard truly stands out. The return of the one and true wizard is back in Gandalf the grey colours (Yes, I'm well aware of the fact he is sandblue)! The orb is truly fitting and the owl just adds to the flawless set! Truly a shame that 2007/2008 is *just* the year when I had to move for school... Alas, I'll always have Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks! I'll just have to cherish every second when I'm home. :-P Quote
Brainbox Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Very nice, very nice. The Wizard, Knight, Builder with Cement Mixer and Street Cleaner are truly fantastic. The others, slightly less so, but still superb sets, especially for the price and context. I'm definitely getting these. 2008 is going to be more expensive than I thought. Looks like it's time to get a job... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 (edited) Thabk you very much for the pics, aayla-secura! Except for the Mars Mission sets - which I generally don't like - the Impulse sets are great! I'll surely buy each of the City and Castle Impulse sets. Of the good knight (although I really hate the new Castle line) I'll perhaps buy more than one set because it's very nice made. I think and hope that there will be more Impulse sets in the second half of 2008. My wishes/ideas: For the City line there might be a harbor worker (for this year's harbor and perhaps more harbor sets then), a pilot (for the new cargo plane), a post officer (for the new post van, the post plane and gopefully a new post office), a lfeguard (hopefully female, for the new Rescue HQ) and a cargo worker (for the new cargo truck and the new cargo plane). For the Castle line there might be a good archer, an undead and a troll/dwarf/... . (I wouldn't like undeads and trolls/dwarfs/... as Impulse sets because I detest them, but I even think that these might be possible Impulse sets.) I think that there won't be any more sets for the Mars Mission line because Lego doesn't continue this line. (Or do I have false information?) If there will be a new Pirate line (which I doubt) there might be a soldier and a pirate like some people did already mention. Edited October 1, 2007 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Shakar Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I'd love a summer Impulse wave. A set with a goblin soldier, a shield, a flag, a sword and maybe an armour piece? YES PLEASE. On the other side, a Dwarf with a shield, an axe, a sword. That would be great.... Shakar Quote

Shakar Great idea and something i really hope for, seems like the natural thing to do if these sell as well as i think they will do. It's just a damn shame that lego can't also do an impulse SW theme :'-( Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I'm sure a lot of you will crucify me but do we need that many dwarves ?? Lets not forget that in the small BP, we'll have 2 goblins and a dwarf !! Personnaly, I sure love that fig from what we can see but I dont need a huge dwarf army !! On the other hand, I would really want a bigger white skellie army !! And Impulse can be a good opportunity to give us exclusive figs !! Like the bishops BTW !! I would much prefer something I need more or that is new !! And lets hope for a city mailman !! I am fed up with all the figs wa already have way too many off (if you catch my drift hehe) !! Diversity On !! *yoda* Quote

Chuck Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Hmmm, I can imagine a goblin with a little outpost with the banner and a few weapons, and a little mining set for the dwarf if they made impulse sets for them! -Chuck Quote

DNL Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I *wub* the soldier! the wizard is also nice, but i don't like the stars. Quote
szww Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 (edited) and i'm really interested, what sort of box that sets will have? Will it be paper box like in 1730 (i hope not...it will rise the price :( ), or a polymer bag ?? any one knows ?? Edited October 2, 2007 by szww Quote
Derek Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) Does anyone know if there will be more of these in the summer wave? Hopefully we'll see licsensed ones! *vader* I think that for the knight they should pack a random head from the castle line so you wont end up with a bunch of those grumpy looking soldiers. When you look at the scans of the catalog, you'll notice on the Impulse page they come in small boxes. Does anyone know if there will be more of these in the summer wave? Nice thought there, especially for army builders it would be nice to have different heads. But from a production point of view it'll probably be more troublesome than its worth. I'm sure the Impulse sets will be a huge success, which means they'll probably make loads more. But when the next wave is released, I really can't say. Quote
jedikermit Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I like these sets--a lot of stuff to choose from, no matter what part of LEGO you're into. The first set (Mission to Mars Mini Robot) looks a lot like Pixar's new WALL-E movie, which will be in theatres next summer... At least it does to me. Quote
szww Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 When you look at the scans of the catalog, you'll notice on the Impulse page they come in small boxes. yep..i know already... i asked before we get the scans but getting back to boxes, isn't it unnecessary rising production costs? If it's boxed, I assume there is also a poly-bag inside... isn't it better to pack it in bags only? it would be cheaper... wouldn't it? Quote

If it's boxed, I assume there is also a poly-bag inside... isn't it better to pack it in bags only? it would be cheaper... wouldn't it? Cheaper yes. But are bags better for all types of shops? Boxes are more durable, but take up more shelf space. Bags take less space but can be easily split open. Both have pros/cons and cost is just 1 factor. Back to the sets. I will certainly be buying multiples of all of them, especially the city and castle ones. The Impulse line will certainly do well and I hope TLC will launch more and more sets Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I agree with Andy, poly-bags may be a bit cheaper, but boxes provide much more protection for the parts. On top of that, boxes are also much easier to display and thus appeal more to potential customers. Besides, in the large quantities that TLC is going to produce these sets, the added costs of the boxes will be negligible. Quote
Derek Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 ...Besides, in the large quantities that TLC is going to produce these sets, the added costs of the boxes will be negligible. The cost of the boxes is probably much less than the cost of stolen sets/ parts if they were bagged. Maybe well see both. Hasnt that been done before? DP8 Quote
Batbrick Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I think the box was the right way to go. I like to see these impulse sets as a "test" by TLC to see if army builders and such sell well or if customers will just buy the "official" sets. If they are successful (which I'm sure they will be ;-) ) then I reckon they would become staple for each years themes, which would make me happy! :'-) I will probably get all the impulse sets, but mostly a heap of Castle Sentries for armmy building, about two or three mini-robots for the cool astronauts, and about four recyclemen for the sweet bins and orange parts. 2008 is looking lovely! :'-) *wub* :'-) TTFN! >:-) Quote
MatthewUSA Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I *wub* the "City" mini sets. I can't wait to find these in the stores in the US. I am definitly going to buy all four. I am even thinking about buying a few more of the construction & trash sets for the figures. Thank you for the pics *y* . Model On!! Quote

Derek Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Then again a similar LISCENSED set of the same size would probably be double the price... *sad* I think a perfect star wars impulse set would be something similar to the STAP or turret from the SW battle packs... *wub* I just started collecting SW lego a few years ago so i missed out on many great small sets...These would be great!
