Heres my list: Sentry: At least 10 or more, I will use the grill helmet armour on blank grey legs and torsos to get two figs from one set. Wizard: Probably just 2 or 3, to get two or three wizards because they are neat, and the beards, I desparately need more beards. And owls, I don't have any owls :-$ , and that new 4wide round peice. Mini-Robot: two, so I can have a couple of astronauts, more pickaxes are always welcome, and two cool bright green gems for my treasure stash. Alien Jet: 1 or 2, to get that new peice and because even though the jellies are crap it is better to have them to make fun of. Police and Dog: only 1 for that 50 speed sign and another dog. Construction: 1 for completion, though that cement mixer aint half bad. Fire Man: 1 for completion again and a fire peice, can't have to many fire peices! ;-) Recycle Man: 2 or 3, I desparately need those rubbish bins, the fig aint bad, and the orange recycle bin is pretty good for the colour and simplicity. Wow! who knew that such small sets could take so much money away from me! :-D :-( TTFN! >:-) Quote
natelite Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 the sentry will look mighty bland when equipped in full armor and grill helm. the arms are grey, legs are grey and grey bland armor. :-P lack of extra shield is another problem. a lot of the small army building sets lack shield. looks like getting lots of the main castle set is the only way to go. :-P looking at all the castle sets, i think the biggest problems are shields and horses. i think i will stick with the joust and other small sets for army building. this is great, but doesn't add much value. hey SW4J - i think for AFOLs bend on collecting only human MFs, this is cheaper than the chess set. the chess set adds to $2 per MF, but half of those are skellies. so unless skellies sell in BL for the same as regular MF (which i doubt it), it will come up to roughly the same as the impulse. but with impulse you get the grill and armor. and in the chess set you get 1 king, 1 princess and 2 bishops in every set (and only 8 foot soldiers). Really not impressed and don't care about the police and firemen ones !! I am so fed up with those subthemse really and I already have a gazillion of them anyway !! I really like the road working guy set !! Sure I don't care at all for the MF (have gazillions of him anyway) but that small cement mixer really looks cool !! simple yet impressive !! Need a couple of them !! I also really like the street cleaner set. Not the fig for the same reasons !! TLC should have used the one from last year's advent calendar which was far better !! And the Castle ones I commented them in the Castle thread ;-) In conclusion these sets will sell like crazy which is great for us !! Sure, there are things I wish they'd make (how hard would it be to give us a woman and a different colour dog, for example) but overall these are promising. Maybe, just maybe, we're seeing the return to the classic days of LEGO greatness, one step at a time. As an aside, I am impressed with the castle impulse sets. The space are OK too.The City ones add nothing to what can be obtained in any of the recent Advent Calendars Quote

Sometimes we get a bargain and it is only 10% more than the US price, other times it is more than twice the price... :-| Quote

The Knight is awesome to build army, and get a lot of extra gear. And the Wizard is ok, not beeing one of my favs. Regarding the City ones, I love the Police one, as I am a uber fan of police, and that dog is awesome. The Fireman is great with a lot of tools. Will likely be gettin' -- Knight x 5-10, great army builder if the price stays at $2-$3... otherwise, the CA set may be a better pack. Wizard x 3, great pieces, good face, torso & Gandalf hat, and the best fig since the Ol' Blue Wizard! MM Robot, just for the fig an' 'cause it's cute. *sweet* MM Jelly Jet, nice design, great new piece, good supply of older ones, too. They really bring creativity on a small scale to the ticket. It's like, you buy all those Creator sets and you build a whole town and what not, then you go to the store on an Impulse because you need to get lots of figures to fill the town! It's so easy for Lego, it's almost unfair. Quote
