legotechnicus Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Hi guys, A week ago I decided to build something with LEGO. My idea at first was to build a trail truck style tatra. Later that day I saw the TC8 competition and I thought I'm going to make a tatra with a crane (see pic below for a global idea). Functions: Drive (xl motor) Steering (m motor) Outriggers (manually) Turning crane (manually) Extending boom (manually) Lifting boom (pneumatic) Still not sure which body I should use, but need to finish the chassis first. I will post pictures a.s.a.p. Quote
Imanol BB Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 seems very good, i am fan of tatra trucks, and i love how they perform in rough terrain and the drivetrain system is amazing, if i was you, i would make the most advanced version of tatra you are able to recreate (i would like the t 815-7), and maybe the crane could be some kind of heavy folding cranes, or just make something like your picture, however good luck in your project. jono rocky Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 An interesting idea. Good luck in the comp. Will be waiting as well for pics. Quote
HorcikDesigns Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I am really looking forward to see what you'll show us. :) Quote
legotechnicus Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) The promised pictures! At this point it is still a early version and I will change a couple of things, but for now this will do. Cheers Edited October 7, 2015 by legotechnicus Quote
Nalyd997 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 That suspension setup is neat! I really like the old technic look it has about it but is realised using modern pieces! Top stuff Quote
Rockbrick Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 i'm liking the rear suspension very much..... Quote
legotechnicus Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 That suspension setup is neat! I really like the old technic look it has about it but is realised using modern pieces! Top stuff Thanks, it's a pretty simple system. I didn't want to use springs in the rear because of the weight of the crane. I will make instructions for a base model, this means the cab and chassis only (different setups, like 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8). I'll also make a LDD file for the crane as well. This way you can choose what you want to build, a model or a trial truck. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Okay, here you are... :-) As I told you already, lovely concept, very nice!!! Quote
Milan Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Yeah, it has that brick-feel, which i really like! Good job mixing both new and old! Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) legotechnicus, it looks good! Can you upload the bottom photo? I'd like to see your Tatra concept solution - central backbone and semi-axles... Thx! Max... Edited October 7, 2015 by MaxSupercars Quote
HorcikDesigns Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Very, very nice. And I have to agree with MaxSupercars - I would love to see the bottom of this bricky-beauty. :) Quote
legotechnicus Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 Here are some pics of the bottom of the truck. I still need to order some parts to make the axles final. I will upload the LDD file for the axles soon. Quote
Technic Jim Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 This is a very nicely built model with a good blend of old and new technic. One question though, what motor are you using? Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Really wel done! Thanks for sharing... Quote

Kman860 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I am very much liking the rear suspension, not that it's something no one has said before . I also like the idea for the outrigger feet, very smart using a ball joint and wheel Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Legotechnicus very nice... I thought that you used this method... thanx for sharing... this MOC got nice technical details... :) Max... Quote
HorcikDesigns Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Tahnk you for the photos of it's belly. Does not the connectors (2 pinholes, with perpendicular axlehole) crack under load? in my trial Tatra they used to, when I used this setup. Quote

legotechnicus Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Little update from today's progress. Started making a cab for the Tatra. Be my guest and try to guess the model I'm not sure if im going to keep the color, but for now I like it. Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) Tatra 815... :) Nice progress... :) Max... Edited October 8, 2015 by MaxSupercars Quote
Kman860 Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I like that cab, looks like an homage to 42009 Quote
Imanol BB Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 maybe you could try to make it red or blue i case you would change the black, because most of the civil tatras that i have seen are of that color, also, nice work with all the functions, the transmission is amazing, its better than i could expect, and so far it looks very good, looking forward for more progress and good luck.
