I was just browsing some lego lots for sale and came across this around my region. I was wondering if you guys know where these figures are from? Thanks!

I agree, it is totally mixed.

Helmet from a star wars storm trooper on a world racer body,

a lord sinister body and face from the adventurers with a hair piece that don't belong to him,

a NBA player with a strange face,

a spaceman from the late 90's with a standard grey helmet not really appropriate I think,

a waiter from city but I think the legs are not like this and the standard waiter is having moustache,

a city diver with a working helmet,

a city guy but the body seems to be more for mid 90's girl,

a city body with fireman helmet and old 90's glasses,

a city plane pilot from the 90's with a working helmet,

and finally, an adventurer body but with a fleshy head, probably Indiana Jones' head.

So a nice mixed of minifigs from mainly mid-end of the 90's and some early 2000's

I hate when kids does that..

When it comes to resale, definitely. You want either a complete minifigure, or you want all of the individual parts.

When it comes to my own LEGO, just about everything has been taken apart and re-purposed.

Yes me too.

Even if I redesign most of my minifigs for MOC purpose the others are strictly the original ones. And for resale it is obvious you should always be careful of the minifigs state.

Spaceman is a Spyrius guy but the legs and head and helmet are wrong.

Ah yes you're right ! I'm not a space expert as you are. Thank you for your help.

Ah yes it should be but the arms are not red in the 6609 Race car.

So I think this torso is more likely this part : the 973p01c02 torso : http://img.bricklink.com/PL/973p01c02.jpg

I love lots like this as you can sometimes sneak some hard to find parts on the cheap, with the larger number of collectors/scalpers dismissing the hodge podge without a second look. I use all kinds of obtuse terms to pull out lots like this and the misnamed lots too, to get a few bargains. If they go for a low price they are a good way to build up a minifigure parts collection too.

It begs the question though: Who is under the trooper helmet?

Which catalogues would be the best to use to identify minifigures? Bricklink.com has almost 8000 minifigs: http://www.bricklink...Asc=A&catType=M

Yes, but the search function means you can choose something and search it.

So, I choose a torso, than I go to the parts section and the minifig torso assembly section. Now I choose a feature of the torso. There is a pretty prominent Dolphin on that one torso.

Only seven results, much easier to look through and find the right one.

Then you can find what minifigs it came from.

It isn't super amazing fast, but it is quicker than google, minifig books, 8000 minifigures on the list or even asking here. Nine times out of ten you can find a match and figure out which minifig it could have been in.
