Doctor Sinister Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 Nice work! You could add something else in the inside so iy's not so empty. A jousting barrier like in 7009 or a big tower. I already put the jousting barrier in there, it's used to tether the horses. I liked the idea of a well actually - or perhaps, in times of peace, a souvenir shop selling skeleton heads. :-D Dr. S. Doctor Sinister Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Right then, here we go, I've now combined the harbour from set 7029 - Skeleton Ship Attack with the 7094 Castle, and here it is! As you can see from this top view, I've kept the moat and the extra observation platform I added: With the addition of the harbour, this now makes the "moat" either part of a lake or an ocean - i.e. the Castle is now an island just off the coast (or something): The harbour pier has been shortened, partly to align with the castle a bit more with the two side sections of the harbour wrapping sideways, partly to avoid the whole thing breaking off when you pick it up due to the weight of the addition! The addition basically makes the second entrance to the castle much more secure, now anyone attacking has to fight their way through two gates. There's a step at the back of the pier to allow the main gates to open and close and to adjust for the level. This rear section has water in the middle of it, if necessary the defenders can destroy the pier/bridge and retreat to the inner Keep leaving the attackers floundering in the water, easy pickings for the towers all around. I used just a few extra grey pieces to attach the walls together and a small baseplate under the pier to keep it at the same level as the rest of the Castle which is also on a baseplate. If you ignore the moat, you could do this mod' at a cost of about a half a dozen pieces. The moat however took quite a while to adjust around the perimeter, not to mention that I had to change the dark blue plates that came with the harbour for regular blue to match my "water". Dr. S. Batbrick Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 That looks even better now Dr. S! You connected the dock to the castle really well, and it certaintly fits in. I would say this is a castle just off the coast, or even more likely in a bay that leads out to the ocean. I reckon next you should fill in the back of the throne tower, so no archers can get one on hios back! Batbrick gives this: *y* *y* TTFN! >:-) Quote
gylman Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 You have made quite an excellent castle Doc. TLC could display your creation as a combiner of the two sets. It really is quite nice and balanced. The top view is particularly good for showing what a good job it is. Way to go! *y* Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Incidentally, sorry the pix are so dark - they looked awful with the flash and as it's gone midnight here, I don't have a lot of natural light! Oh, and thanks! Dr. S. Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Here's a brighter picture: Dr. S. Quote

Batbrick Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Awesome! That all looks very good together and with your modifications! Fantastic job. *y* MUHAHAHA! Stalking you iamded, and you thought I had given up! *skull* Anyway Dr. S thanks for the brighter pic :-) , now I can really appreciate the great work on this castle you have done! *y* The Skellie Ship is a nice addition, though it looks EXTREMELY stubby in that pic. Is it really that stubby or is it just the angle of the pic? Maybe you should Mod the ship then! Make it longer, like a real ship! >:-) TTFN! >:-) Quote
ZeekyBoogeyDoog Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 The castle is much better looking now. You did an awesome job with this *y* *y* ! Quote
Dragonator Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I like what you've done with this set. Now I want to get it! :'-) Like the way the two sets combine, looks really neat! Keep building! :-) Can't wait to see what comes next! Quote

Asuka Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 A very fine combination, well done! *y* I really hope that TLC Quote
iamded Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Sheesh, I'm almost tempted to buy two Skellie Ship Attacks just to elongate the ship! It's so stubby! It'll be nice to see what this will look like with the tower from that Goblin Siege set. After removing those flick-fire missiles of course. :-P ~Peace Edited October 8, 2007 by iamded Quote

Anyway Dr.S, do you plan on modding anything else in the castle line? Maybe elongate that skeleton ship? Or make a cooler skeleton tower? Excelent job overall though! *y* *y* TTFN! >:-) Quote
Dragonator Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Hey, that skelly ship could do with some lengthening! I never knew it was so....stubby! :-D Anyway, keep up the good work! *y* Quote
