KirTech LAB Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 (edited) Hello All! Today I present my new MOC. It was built special for LEGO Technic Mercedes-Benz Future Truck competition. The goal: to construct Mercedes-Benz truck of the 2045 year. So it’s my version - Multifunctional Truck Platform. Full video demonstration you can see at the end of the post. This model is based on six-wheel AWD module with full independent suspension and outriggers (2xXL motors, dimensions – 48x23x9 cm, total weight – 1580 g). The module is pilotless and it has electric motors. The cabin is just an option because the modules can be united and there is no need to have the cabin in each module. For example: here all the modules are controlled by excavator operator. The module has zero turning radius. It can be remote controlled at distance up to 1,5 km for local maneuvering. The wide range of the rigs can be mounted on it. I’ve built the truck body and the excavator for instance. The truck body has all-side unloading; it’s very comfortable at narrow building areas. The excavator has one extra function – an extensible boom. So it has very high performance and wide range of working. There are approximately 42 3L universal joints in this MOC – it’s a record for me. Video demonstration: I hope you like it! Thanks for watching! Edited January 1, 2020 by desert752 Quote
aminnich Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 This is a very cool build. My only question is, Is it a real thing or just a Lego build?? Quote
Milan Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 You have really make en effort for this challenge! For now, it seems like a winner! Aminnich, if you are asking does this truck exist, it should not, it should be his vision of the 2045 truck :) Quote
aminnich Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 oops, did read just looked at the great pictures!! haha i have to learn to read the descriptions more often Quote
Lakop Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Impressive and an interesting concept. Good luck with it. H Quote
Nemo57 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 All cool, all excellent. : Cool: The idea is interesting, the embodiment simply superb. I would suggest, if you have time and desire, after all, to make a separate short module cubicle or wall-mounted version of each module (in the square took, found snapped and gone), or in a separate form as a cab-truck 4-wheel (for example, for long crane trucks or cranes Terex Demag type, or for the transport of containers or the drawing up of a dozen platforms for the transportation of non-standard long and heavy load. Or the cabin to do with the two wheels on the basis of the gyro (operating time as you have). By design, no complaints. Wheels turned mersedesovskie great, but the front emblem better in terms of fit (rudders there is such a big, like, gray or black). And the question of how this is all moving together and that is very interesting as it turns? : Confused: Quote
bonox Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 wow - there are some great ideas for small building sites in there i'd really like to see in production! I first thought that the side unloading tipper could cause problems because it's hard to drive away from, but you could treat is as a side tipper by driving while unloading, or even crab steer away from the pile. The modular truck concept and a couple of examples of how to use it is very well executed. Congrats Quote
nerdsforprez Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 43 U joints! Not sure that is just a record for you my friend......that may be a record period.... for any technic MOC. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I love the versatility of the design. Well done and good luck. Quote
Beck Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I really like the modularity of this design, but I have a few questions. How do you steer with all three modules hooked up if there's no steering? Or are they meant to be hooked up together? How would one control the tipper variant IRL? Or is it an automated vehicle? Quote
750ACE Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I like it but how does it steer when in a single assembly? For some reason I feel machines will be more advanced in 2045 however I may be wrong. Quote
bonox Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 skid steer? Makes sense in the soft environment it's shown in. Quote
Blakbird Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Very well done! Looks like that base unit would be a competent trial truck. Quote
KirTech LAB Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 Thank for comments! What I think about steering: in real machine would be great to realize all the normal steering, skid steering and maybe the possibility to drive side-by-side. I've done only the skid steering for reliability and to save construction time. All the driving motors are connected to the same channel. But I can control them separately because they are mounted under the superstructure and the signal is blocked by it. But if I go on the side of the assembly all the receivers will receive the signal simultaneously. Looks like that base unit would be a competent trial truck. Yes I was thinking about truck trial during the filming :)) Quote
zux Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Nice idea. Looks like excavator might need its own topic as it looks quite interesting unit. Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 nicely done. if it would be for a contest here you would have my vote. are you going to make instructions for the red base version? thanks TNLD Quote
KirTech LAB Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 nicely done. if it would be for a contest here you would have my vote. are you going to make instructions for the red base version? thanks TNLD Thanks! I don't plan to create instructions. Maybe I'll film additional movie about the excavator. Quote
KirTech LAB Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 A few words about the excavator (with subtitles): Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I really like this concept!!! Very well done... Quote
