Vodnik Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 (edited) The Poe's X-Wing is just beautiful in Lego form! But those wings are ugly... They barely resemble the real thing. The T-70 wings should close to a single thin wing surface with lower wing forming the front half and the rear half becoming the rear half. Well, actually they are not halves, as the rear / upper wings are wider than front / lower ones. Unfortunately TLG decided to only slightly modify the original T-65 design from their 9493, and as a result the upper and lower wings do not meet the way they should and there is actually an ugly see-through one plate wide gap between them!!! It just sucks... The spring shooters added to the wing tips also look ugly in my opinion. TLG wing: Luckily the solution was quite simple. I used mostly parts from the set with just a few 1x2, 2x2, 2x4 and 2x6 black plates and a few grey Technic bushes added. Now my T-70 looks the way it should! Well, in my opinion of course Edited September 27, 2015 by Vodnik Quote
H_Solo Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Excellent, this looks really spot-on. Thank you for the great pictures, good way to recreate the mod for others (like me)... Quote
Rishab N Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Nice mod. It looks much better now Quote
Junior Shark Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Soooo much better! The difference between the wings was what I first noticed when the images were released. It's stopped me from picking up the set at this point, but now I just might and do your mod on it! So cool! Quote
gcanik Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Nice MOD, the whole wing thing bothered me from the beginning when I first saw the Lego images compared to the actual X-Wing. Nice that somebody figured out a way to MOD this. I'm sure more people will attempt this also. Pretty sure you can bet all that money burning a hole in our wallets that Lego will release a grey/blue version of the X-Wing as well that was in the trailer. Quote
khatmorg Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 It looks pretty nice. But the wings don't actually overlap on the real thing. They snap clean in half. Quote

Yes, but in the Lego model the upper wing is based on a single 6 x 12 wedge plate. Making properly split wings would require replacing that part with a few smaller pieces and I wasn't interested in such change. Quote
Gouniaf Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Hey, I did the same yesterday. Don't you mind if I open my own topic ? Quote
