Ugh teridax? Ever since 2006 there have been to many uncreative names with xyz. axonn, vezon, maxilos, hydraxon, icarax. you name it. Creativity is going down. :-(

Face it, Bionicle has never been creative with names.

... except maybe in 2004... and some in 2006.

EDIT: Okay, scrap that. '04-'06 were partially creative in terms of names, as were the BuildIt critters.

Bordahk sounds like Bored Quak. :-D

Personally I like silver better than gray, but I almost thought gali was silver. There is barely any blue on here. C'mon lego, get some minds when it comes to color. :-|

I liked the Metru Nui names. The first three years had the Maori feel, to match the mysterious tropical island with all sorts of climates [like New Zealand]. The names then were simple but still sounded great and told you a bit about the character [Pohatu has a really solid sound, Gali's name flows, and so on]. Then, when the setting switched to Metru Nui, the big somewhat futuristic city, it seemed to me that the naming conventions became more modern and urban to match the city with the introduction of n's and m's into the sound- Dume, Orkahm, Lhikan, Kodan, Tuyet, [you may notice that some of these names were introduced later, I like how the naming for the Metru Nui stayed the same], to an extent Nivawk- but some names still retained the Maori-ness to show that it was Bionicle- Nidhiki, Krekka, Nuhrii-. And then the setting changed again, to something like Mata Nui but harsher. The names kinda went downhill. We saw the introduction of x and z to the names, and they became based off real words a lot. We got Vezon, Teridax, Chirox, Pridak [there's nothing I dislike more about the names than the -ak in them], Avak, Zaktan, Antroz, Vamprah, Hydraxon, Defilak, Dekar[who I thought sounded like some sort of fish racer at first], Gorast, and so on.

Names were nicer when they fit the setting.

Hm, not bad, not bad at all. Of course, the battle scenes consist more of quick come back lines than actual battling, but there were lots of good scenes too: Lewa's memories of the founding of Karda Nui, Icarax's page, and the best - the creation of the Toa Ignika. And of course, the drawing is miles ahead of Sayger's art. :-)

What I'm most concerned about is the preview at the bottom of the last page: coming in JULY? What, are we only getting three comics a year? I sure hope not.... 8-|

I really like Leah's style. The comic was really good. And long for once! *y*

Also - I believe that Issue #13 is a web comic - which is not good. At all.

But Greg said Australia's getting it. :P Which I assume means the Australian LEGO Magazine.

I'll scan it, yo.

Wonderful, Chirox used a shadow hand! So it wasn't a one-time plot device in LoMN (and briefly in WoS)!

Although technically it doesn't make much sense as Teridax wasn't able to let go of the giant pillar thing and Chirox dropped Pohatu.

I love Leigh Gallagher's art style. It makes me remember the old comics in 01, yet still has something of Stuart Sayger.

BTW, did you notice a similarity between Icarax and Takanuva's building structures? Their legs have short double joints connected to the torso with Hordika necks.

Remember what he said regarding his defeat?

"I disagreed with something I ate."

Maybe that was the problem. Anyway, all Makuta can do the shadow hand trick to absorb mass.

Great comic, from what I can see. Can't wait to get it.

I like this artist's style much better than Stuart Sayger's, although his 2006 artwork was not too bad. I just kept getting the feeling of stick figures from him. Maybe that is because he was told not to make them look like the sets, and this artist was told the opposite.

As for the comic itself, I liked it a lot. I agree with Grievous that there is not too much battle and instead come-back lines, but for this introductory comic I actually think that is good. Many times dialogue gives a good impression of character, even if it is in the form of comeback lines. I think that the story was well-laid out this time, and gave a thorough imprinet of what is going on. I as actually able to fully understand each page without having to read it twice. :-P

I am liking this increased length, though of course it is because of one less comic. But it's still good. Those Toa Ignika pages are sweet, and I love the way that artist has drawn Icarax in those scenes. Icarax is a killer.

No I'm really interested in getting BL9 and finding out how this winter story plays out. Good thing I ordered it yesterday! :-D

I agree - this comic was miles ahead of all the 2007 comics. It kinda reminds me of the great comic we got in March of 2006 - fairly long, with a good balance between story and action. Oh, and back then, Sayger actually was turning out GOOD art, not the lazy crud he gave us in 2007. |-/

Wow, now that was a good comic. I really enjoyed reading it. I like this new artist. A better style than sayger. *y*

And here is a surprise to my good fellows: I am planning on buying Jetrax or Axarela and rockoh for reviewing purposes. Yes, I am also buying them for parts, but I want to give you guys a nice, detailed review on those sets. :-)
