knotian Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I would like to make some conveyor belts. There are two links and one tread. There may be others but I haven't run across them yet. Technic Chain Link 3711.dat Technic Chain Link with two studs 273.dat Technic Chain Tread 17 3873.dat Do they work together? What gears do they fit? Any reliability issues? Thanx, Ed Quote
rollermonkey Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 None of them fit on 8T gears or beveled gears. The chain will not connect directly to the treads, not sure if the treads are compatible, I only have the most recent. The chain is pretty small, so you wouldn't be able to move anything too large or heavy. I've seen the treads used as conveyor belts on numerous MOCs. Quote
dr_spock Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 3711 and 3873 can work together. I used in a GBC conveyor belt. They break apart fairly easily when jammed. Day 184 of 365: Conveyor Failure by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Quote
RohanBeckett Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 chain link with 2 studs is the older type, from the early 70's, before the 'modern' technic came into being. It ONLY works with old style gears, and is quite loose/sloppy Quote
