If one were to start a topic about Steampunk, or an Index for Steampunk MOCs, where should it be posted?

History and Adventure?

Space?

Good question! I would go for space as I see Steampunk as the future in the past but I am curious what others think.... 8-|

If it were placed in Space, I really think that the whole board should be renamed Sci-Fi, as some Mecha builders will argue that

Mecha (including me, to an extent) isn't really an extension of space, but an entirely different theme, same goes with steampunk.

EDIT: I just realized the board is called Space & Mecha, not Space.

Well I don't think it should be called Sci-Fi as most space MOCs forget about the "Sci" part... If it was to be renamed, I would call it "Future Fantasy" and that I think would cover Steampunk well. (Regardless of its name, I see it as "Future Fantasy anyway! :-D ) I do agree though that Mecha are not always to do with space.

Back to Steampunk, in the past people have posted in both sections and the mods don't seem to override this so they don't seem to have a preference.

Perhaps just in the 'My Own Creation' forum? A lot of the vehicles I think would fit better in the space forum, but the floating rocks and houses I think would fit better in the History & Adventure forum. :-/

I don't know either, but I would love to see a Steampunk sub-forum. I really like the theme. Are there a lot of steampunk builders here? I know we have a few in the Pirates forum!

Have you heard of Victorian inspired steam-powered mechanical robots? Well if you have, you probably heard of steampunk - it is a mix of old and new technologies and asks the question,

Where are your creations? I went to your Flickr gallery, but to be honest, the first pic that came up discouraged me from exploring further :-/ Sorry, that is just my opinion. :-$

I would love to see your steampunks, though! *sweet*

Chuck, that's great stuff, man! *sweet* *y* All your stuff is really cool. I can learn a lot from stufying your creations. You are the master of the modified plate!! :-D I think maybe you should start a steampunk index and hope some nice mod or admin pins it and moves it to an appropriate place. It's too cool not to give it a shot, IMO!

Thanks for sharing those! *wub* They're really great!

Perhaps! It seems the general consensus seems that it belongs in the Space board, but it seems more likely to fit in the History Board.

I really don't want to see stuff like that in the History forum !! Sci Fi is the opposite of history !!

But what about MOCs that have dragons or living skeletons? That is almost like an alternate timeline for castle, so why not an alternate timeline of the Victorian Era?

What about something like [this]? That's Steampunk, but I think it would fit better in the History & Adventure forum.

Interesting !! So If I build a spaceship with a tree on it, I have to post it in city ?? Yeay, great rationale there !!

History is history !! Modernity doesn't have its place there !!

I spent a good half-hour looking at these. Great work!

This topic really showed me a bit about Steampunk, an awesome theme, I have neither the peices or the skill (I think) to try it, though.

Radiant Kestrel

*wub* A work of art... Maybe I just like it because it uses the name "Kestrel" Though. :-P

History and Adventure are together? That's just wrong. History belongs on it's own and Adventure and Steampunk go together, even though they can both include elements of History. To me, steampunk will always be the classic TV version of the Wild Wild West (not that infernal movie) or maybe The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (I still haven't managed to watch the whole thing though, but it definitely has the mood).
