Karalora Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 One thing's for sure; in order to secure the future for the franchise, they need to kill him off and make Indiana Jones a title passed down through family. Not at all. The Indiana Jones series is highly episodic; Indy has implicitly had many more adventures that we haven't been privy to in detail. I think the best way to reboot the franchise would be to show us some of those--"midquels" rather than sequels. Yes, Indy would have to be re-cast. I don't understand why this is necessarily a bad thing. Characters are re-cast and re-interpreted all the time. It's pretty narrow-minded to say that no actor could ever do justice to Indy.
greenalfonzo Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 They should do a reverse of Indy 3. Start with old Indy and have it flash back to his younger self having the adventure that got him into his current predicament. Seems like the perfect way to introduce a new actor as young Indy. They could even use that technique for a couple films to keep Ford involved.
legosamsonite Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Back when i made this thread, it was a hollow dream, now it seems like a comeback is possible :)

That's exactly what I'm saying. End Indy's continuing story, and if they want to make more they can go back and use a new actor as a younger Indy in prequels.

There's too many reboots at the moment though. Better to have a sequel with a new person taking on the Indiana Jones name.
Blondie-Wan Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Back when i made this thread, it was a hollow dream, now it seems like a comeback is possible :) I'd say it's not only possible but probable. TLG's licensing relationship with Lucasfilm has been important and has continued for over a decade and a half now, and I suspect Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm has only made it stronger. And the previous Indy line was reportedly a big success, which seems borne out by the fact it got four waves of sets released over two years - certainly more than they usually do for an isolated single new movie in a long-running franchise they've never done sets for before. Nothing's official until it's official, but I think it's a pretty safe bet there will be more LEGO Indiana Jones sets. To me, then, the major questions are not whether the theme is returning, but a) how long the theme resurrection will last; b) what percentage of sets will based on the new movie versus what percentage will be based on the older material; c) how many of the new sets based on the older material will be remakes / revisits of locations, vehicles, etc. covered in the 2008 / 2009 sets; d) whether they'll cover anything outside the feature film series (specifically the TV show, but also anything else); and e) whether there'll be any super-rare and elusive promo stuff to vex me. Perhaps it's unwise of me to just assume the line will return, but I have to say it looks extremely likely.
Captain Nemo Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Just making sure everyone understands...that everyone realizes the movie is not scheduled for release until July 2019...that's more than three years from now. Because of that, there's no actual set discussion going on here (obviously), let alone any rumors (yet) that we'll actually get any sets. So in the long meantime, please take the discussion over to the Community forum. Come back here mid-2018 once we actually have need to discussion potential sets.
