MiloNelsiano Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 As far as he could guess going by his map, Osric was near the Avalonian border when his supply of meat ran out. From there he would kill the occasional rat he would find in the cave to eat. He began to consider himself lucky, as he had not yet run into any Drow or anything else remotely dangerous. Soon thereafter, he heard speaking coming from further down the tunnel. Osric put out his torch and drew his sword before continuing silently toward the voice. As he approached, it seemed to be just one voice, complaining about others being late. Osric found a hiding place very near the dark figure from where the voice came and sat in wait. Although he thought he could probably sneak around the figure, if others were coming, he thought it safest to wait and see how many there were in total. His father had told him many times not to flee from a fight that must be fought, but also not to run into battle when it may be unnecessary. He sat waiting for close to an hour before he heard more voices approaching. With the voices he saw a light approaching. Finally the light reached the first shadowy figure and the light became brighter. Although he had never seen one before, Osric knew right away that the four figures that stood before him were Drow. The light that had approached was from the end of a staff that one of the Drow carried. He appeared to be a warlock, and two of the others seemed to be warriors, one of whom held a large Halberd, and the other had a small axe and shield. The fourth appeared a ranger and sounded as feminine Osric figured a Drow could sound. The warlock spoke first, addressing the Drow holding the Halberd, whom Osric now knew was the Drow that he had first heard. “Where are the others?” He asked. “They are gone. The elves in the village we attacked were skilled in magic, and we were quickly defeated. I was lucky to escape with my life.” “Fool!” replied the warlock. “You’re lucky I don’t take your life now! You will return with us. Meanwhile, I’ll send Zeva in your place. His shield can repel even the most powerful of magic. Our weak elven kin won’t stand a chance against him, with magic or without.” The Halberd wielding Drow grumbled a curse before leaving ahead of the others. The warlock turned to the shield wielding Drow and said, “Bring back the village elder for questioning, and kill the rest.” The other Drow answered, “For the Spire,” before warlock and the ranger turned to follow the first warrior down the corridor in the opposite direction from Osric. The shield wielding Drow watched the others leave and stood silently meditating for a few moments before turning and coming toward Osric. He wasn’t sure if one Drow could really take out an entire elven village or not, but the warlock’s confidence certainly did not comfort him. Osric crouched down and readied his sword. As the Drow walked by him, Osric thrust his sword into his throat, and he dropped to the ground gurgling silently. Osric considered the innocent Elves that he had hopefully saved by this murder before turning to leave. While turning, Osric remembered how the warlock mentioned that the shield this Drow carried could repel even the most powerful magic. Osric picked up the shield and carried it with him, hoping it might give him protection if he should have to face Daemeon, who had attacked Oros and sent him on this journey. A shot without the top to show the inside (a little bit) better. I thank everyone once again that gave me photography advice for this build. While I have every confidence you guys could have taken perfect pictures of this build, I was unable to. I tried lots of things, but these were the best pictures I could get before giving up. Anyway, I hope you can see it well enough. I hope you enjoy this chapter (although it certainly wasn't my favorite). Comments and Criticism is most welcome! TitusV Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Waw, your really cool have made want to do something alike! Quote
Simon_S Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Nice one Milo! Your figs look as usual good and I like how you built a whole landscape on top of the cave althought it wouldn't be necessairy for the story. It just makes the build feel complete... As I know myself I would have just built a cave for this and left everything else beside, so it's great to see that you haven't been so lazy as I am sometimes ;-) Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Nice build! Cool figs, and I too like that you've included the ground above! Quote
Graham Gidman Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Terrific build, love the above ground landscape! Quote
LittleJohn Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Excellent build, Milo! The ground layering is superb and I really like the rockwork too Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Superb cave! The rocks hanging from the ceiling finish things off nicely Excellent ground layering and tree, up top, as well Quote
Jacob Nion Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Great cave my valued namesake. I love how you did these stalactites hanging from the ceiling. And fearsome Drow warriors! It's hard to kit bash good Drow figures, and these are great. The only minor flaw is perhaps the light shining though the bag of the cave, something one can easily avoid by bricking some wall behind. But most of the time I am myself to lazy for that, so what I' m telling. Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Always cool to see a double layered build! Nice job on the rockwork and on the vegetation above too! The tree crown looks really good but I think the trunk could be improved a little by using a few smaller slopes here and there on the bottom and making the insets a bit more random. Other than that though, great build! I especially like the roots hanging down into the cave! Quote
Blufiji Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Small build but big impression. The Drow were done very nicely and the story once again is engaging. Quote
Petric_G Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Good Build. I like your tree with the fallen leafs and the story :-) Quote
Exetrius Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Great cave, getting tighter towards the end and with plant roots from the ceiling scene on top is nice too! Quote
