MagPiesRUs Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Well I can't wait to get Dwarves with beards that come in more colours than red! Not to mention those spiffy dark tan trolls, and those trolls with the... old... helmet... Ah well. Still, Dwarves Mine looks so cool, I want it! ~Peace I picked one up from K-Mart yesterday I really love those brown braided beards and the bronze axes. as well as the dark tan troll. The set itself is great, with excellent playabilty (even if the gold doesn't really go anywhere.. ) and ingeniously made mine cars, anvil and hammer Quote
Erdbeereis Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Dwarves Mine is definitely one of my most anticipated sets of 08. It just looks so good and looks like you could play with it for a long time. I really like the way the dwarves and trolls look and I also really like the big doors on the front of the mine. The track with carts looks like a lot of fun too. The beards look fantastic as well. I can't wait to get it! Quote

I can't wait to get it! It's easily (for me atleast) one of the single best non-AFOL sets released in years. It's one of my favourite sets. It just has so much cool and new: Orcs, Orc swords, Orc shield, Dwarf shields, bronze clip on axes, bronze clip on double axes, dwarves, dwarf beards, dwarf winged helmets, dwarf round helmets, brickbuilt hammer, brickbuilt anvil, gold, silver, chicken leg, gold cups, brickbuilt mine carts, matallic viking wheel, large wood doors, mine tracks, troll, troll club and heaps I missed, you can play or display with it differently for hours. It also has tremendous pieces for MOCing potential, especially the gold, dark green, beards, helmets, orc heads, and other pieces. I'm so glad I got it. Batbrick Away! Quote

It's okay Batbrick, you don't need to convince me to get this set! I may even pick up two, if I have the cash... besides, what other way to stock up on differing Dwarves? ~Peace Edited April 17, 2008 by iamded Quote

Hey dont forget those insane 1 x 2 bricks so revolutionary......silly sarcasm! But you did nail pretty much all that its got going for it The thought of combining 2 together with the modular aspect was appealing too Edited April 17, 2008 by I Scream Clone Quote

ultraman_bc Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Something apart from the Dwarf Mine. Was just checking S@H, guess what, they lowered the price of the 2008 Chess Set! It is now priced US$199, Europe is at 199 Euros or 139 british pound. Quote

Wilhelm screamer Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Any idea as to when these new sets will hit the states? Want dwarve's mine so much . Quote
Erdbeereis Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Some places said April and others said August... So take your pick. I would think they would come sooner rather than later since most countries already have them, but you never know. Quote

I would think they would come sooner rather than later since most countries already have them, but you never know. Well, since there's such a high demand for them in Europe, I have a feeling that they will be released in the US in August. Besides, if they were going to release them in April.....don't you think we would have heard something by now? Quote
Brainbox Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Picked up Tower Raid the other day. Like most of this year's Castle assortment, I like it. Three trolls and two Crownies; can't complain. I particularly like the extending ramp mechanism. I've only got 3 Castle sets and already I've got 5 trolls, 4 Crownies, a skellie (with horse) and a dwarf. Not bad really. Quote
MoonCheese Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Yeah, the Castle line has a lot of small sets with a lot of figs, which is good. It seems to me that in the 90s a small set would probably just have 1 fig, and now we have sets like the ballista with 3 figs for only 5,29 euro. And I'm glad Lego is finally realizing people want battle packs and other sets with lots of figs (like the chess set). Counting the set I still have in Detroit, I have 38 Castle figs, and I'm only starting... Quote
Brainbox Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Yeah, the Castle line has a lot of small sets with a lot of figs, which is good. Oh definitely. That fact, compared with the Impulse sets, makes army building really easy. And the sets are so well priced as well. I was expecting them all to be much dearer than thery actually are. Quote
iamded Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 I got Battle Wheel and Dwarves Mine yesterday and they are both great! The Battle wheel can balance fine, so it should be okay to take of that annoying handle. But the wheels build... oh man... so... repetitive! Still, it looks neat, I must say the wheels are smaller than I imagined, which is good as it doesn't take up as much shelf space. Dwarves Mine is just fantastic, I love it so much! I really want to get a second one, but I bought the only one left in the store... oh well, at least I got one! ~Peace Quote

Pate-keetongu Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 are the tan trolls good guys? (thanks to whung for picture) Quote
Visorak-kal Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Not as far as I know. The tan trolls are evil in both the Dwarf Mine and the Giant Chess Set, so I guess whoever made the diorama was either a little confused or decided to spice things up a bit. That is a European store from the look of it, right? No chance of it being in America? VK Quote
Wout Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I looked in that map and on some displays were asian letters, so I don't think it's in Europe. Quote
