Master56 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 After recieving several packages with orders from bricklink a couple of weeks ago, I could finally start my small project/transformation/mod of a couple of Lego sets. Since my english is a little rusty, I guess pictures will tell you more... Just opened the second example of this set: Remove all red pieces Adding blue ones instead ordered from different sellers on bricklink... Finished Added some chrome to the blue one in this picture + a little mod on the front bumper Now the red ones turn to get chrome added Here you can se set 10242 with chrome parts too. Also want chrome for the Ferrari, but will wait and see if a chrome kit will appear... Quote
Vindicare Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I've seen the color mods you've done(yellow as well), but that chrome addition...wow! It really makes the set pop! Great idea. Quote

I've also seen many different colors like in this photo, but not any blue versions with chrome like mine. I want to fo the f40 in a different color like lime green. Did you chrome them or did you send them to somebody Actually an easy case, since all I had to do was to order a Chromed kit from www.blingblingbricks.com. In addition to that I ordered a few bricks on bricklink for the bumper mod... Green Ferrari? would like to see that one =) Edited August 31, 2015 by Master56 Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Love the chrome mods, wouldn't mind having those Quote

I love seeing the cars in different colors, it's crazy what a simple color swap can make a set look so much different. Quote
Covenant84 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 These look great! Where are the chrome parts from that aren't included in the chrome set? Quote
CisFran Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Nice job! I wonder how much it costs to change to blue? and chrome parts? Quote
Covenant84 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Looking at the link the chrome costs $50 CisFran, but not sure where the extras are from... As for colour I'd be interested to know too - and also if anyone knows rough costs for different colours - guessing some are more costly than others. I'd be interested in doing a green one myself. Master56 Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 These look great! Where are the chrome parts from that aren't included in the chrome set? I ordered the additional chrome parts from Chrome Block City on bricklink. Pieces loose on the table here were the extras I ordered. Nice job! I wonder how much it costs to change to blue? and chrome parts? sum theese an you get the answer how much I payed for the blue bricks. Some extra pieces were ordered, so in total a little less than the sum you get: NOK 390.71 US $8.47 US $31.43 EUR 7.14 EUR 28.42 CHF 28.10 The extra chrome pieces got quite expensive. EUR 56.36 This is the cost for the extra pieces for both my campers. Also here I ordered some extra pieces wich you won't find on the cars. So somewere between 20 and 25 Euros for the extras on one car... Looking at the link the chrome costs $50 CisFran, but not sure where the extras are from... Read above, and you will find out.. In total VERY expensive Quote
Master56 Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) OK. took the job sum'ing up the cost I had on the blue bricks... $157,31 This is from the six different orders I had on bricklink included postage cost on every order. And if you add $72,84 for the chrome, you have in total $230,15 .. Tell me if you know a cheaper way to get parts. Learned from this; If you want something "unique", you have to pay for it... TheLegoDr Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I've considered building a blue one to represent Dharma from Lost. But I don't know if I'm a big enough fan to justify the costs thanks to that final season... Quote
CisFran Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) Thanks Master56! The cost of the blue bricks is much more than the cost of the set BNIB. I'll check if there are cheaper bricklink alternatives Did you also replace the dark red bricks? Edited September 1, 2015 by CisFran Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 The blue version looks really amazing! Quote

Did nothing about the dark red bricks. They're still there in the interiour... Quote
