Me, I'd have to laugh else I think I might just cry! But what an amazing collection of build he has. Edited August 26, 2015 by grum64 Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 He still has the better looking model which is far more detailed than the longer one. Both are great, but the difference between 3 years of building and several months is obvious. Quote
Vorkosigan Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Amazing models, of course its not all about size. Its sad to see all the dust on those ships though from being stored in the garage, I hope he gets a safer space for them. Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Very impressive. Better Nd more details than the other longest ship Quote
YellowCorvette Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Wan,look ...of warship USS Missouri only to be beaten by just inches by American rival. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3211458/Fisherman-51-spent-three-years-building-world-s-biggest-Lego-model-warship-USS-Missouri-beaten-just-inches-American-rival.html What would you do? Me, I'd have to laugh else I think I might just cry! But what an amazing collection of build he has. Wow,look at the size of that thing! The model is impressive and there's a lot of details in that gigantic model. Thanks for share the link! Quote
engineermax Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Apparently he used non lego elements though. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) I loved this exchange in the comments: "Grown men playing with Legos?" "People with Hobbies? Perish the thought!" But yeah I do prefer the garage model here. Edited August 27, 2015 by SpiderSpaceman Quote
dr_spock Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I think they both should attend the same AFOL convention and duke it out in a game of Battleships. Quote
GallardoLU Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I think they both should attend the same AFOL convention and duke it out in a game of Battleships. A-1 you hit my battle ship! A-2.. you hit my battle ship again! J-15, still hitting the battle ship Quote
PaddyBricksplitter Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Well why doesn't he just add extra bricks? Quote
CaptainToad Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Well why doesn't he just add extra bricks? :) I guess its not that simple, I think he build the ship in regard to a certain scale - so IMHO he'd have to rebuild the whole ship in order to stay true to the scale Quote
750ACE Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 The 3 year model clearly shows the time invested. What a gift that builder has. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Hasn't there been a LEGO built Titanic that was bigger than both of those? Quote
GallardoLU Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Hasn't there been a LEGO built Titanic that was bigger than both of those? there was a 25' 11" Queen Mary built, that holds the record for largest Lego ship ever built (using a team of people) both of these ships broke the Longest Lego ship built by a single person (previous record was 23') but only the American gets that title, even if the Scott's ship is far nicer to look at. Boettner Builds Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 http://www.vidoevo.com/yvideo.php?i=UGxNU3JPcWuRpeDQzdUk&big-lego-exhibition-titanic-a-length-of-11-meters-wystawa-gliwice-lego-mati This is the one I was thinking of, 11 metres equals 33 feet! Quote
GallardoLU Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 interesting, I wonder how that was over looked on the record list I had found... with that we have a new overall winner (I assume it was built by a team of people) Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Jerac's Chimera Star Destroyer looks better! And man, it's seems he don't even dust that MOC :p Still amazing thing! Quote
FrenchLegoBoy Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Both are outstanding. The real problems are imo finding a good scale in relation to the source material and respecting it, and also the dust gathering all over the Lego when the building tends to be quite long... Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I reckon getting another foot in a half out of the haul isn't totally out of the question without totally wrecking the proportions? Quote
Eggolot Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 The first one is much better, more detail, great proportions. Quote
splatman Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I think they both should attend the same AFOL convention and duke it out in a game of Battleships. Yes! Quote
jim7564 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 thanks for the comments guys,i never built this expecting it to be the longest, anyone can simply add a foot here and there but to keep it to minifig scale it comes out at this size, although my next one could very well take the title LOL.All i can say is it has the right amount of windows in the bridge (someones has 4 missing) the angles on the conning towers are correct and not simply vertical, Quote
cloud Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Amazing, I'm in awe. Jim you are my hero and your family is equally wonderful for supporting you. When can I get the instruction manual to build one of my own? How much will it cost? Can I order one on bricklink? just kidding :) Quote
Kodan Black Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Beautiful and truly epic. Combines two of my loves: Lego and WWII. Like you have to tell kids: there is always going to be someone bigger, faster or better. It doesn't take away from your accomplishment. Quote
