tibland2 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I honestly never liked the construction of the cockpit section of 9492. I really hated the look of the printed bubble canopy so I decided to mod mine using pieces from the TIE Advanced Prototype that was released earlier this year: I think it looks a million times better! JonnyRainbow Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Absolutely! That looks so much better than the hideodorous bubble canopy. I think I'm going to go and do the same as you. Bravo! Quote
All in the Reflexes Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Brilliant MOD and makes the model look so much better, im doing this! Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Very nice. I've always dreamed of doing this, but I have 3 ties to mod. Maybe I'll just do this on my Interceptor and call it a day. I'm surprised I haven't seen this before, but still an outstanding Mod! Quote
Mr Man Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 That is a much better front. If I ever get found to buying them I'll do the same. Quote
miles teg Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 That looks very nice, I wish I had the tie prototype so I could use those parts! I modded my own 9492 a couple of months ago as I also wasn't keen on the 'out of the box' look. I made the pylons wider by a couple of studs and changed th bubble shape as much as I could with the parts I had, but I'm still not happy with it. Think I'm going to shorten the pylons by 1 stud and revisit the bubble. Do you have any shots of the rear ? It looks Like you have added a viewport ? Quote
Robianco Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I grabbed both the windscreen and the roof disc from B&P to mod my 9492 in the same way. Glad to see that it works nicely as I've not had a chance to make the changes myself. I also picked up a second TIE Advanced Prototype to hopefully MOD it into Vader's Advanced... I can see the mods done here will be helpful in trying to put that together. Quote
tibland2 Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks for the kind words! @Miles teg. The rear is pretty much identical to the unmodified model. Quote
Gouniaf Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Better for sure. Aleady tried to change the whole cockpit to make it similar to the new Special Force Tie ? Quote
miles teg Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Thanks for the kind words! @Miles teg. The rear is pretty much identical to the unmodified model. Ah, my mistake. I was looking at the hinge and seeing something completely different. That concave rear section is very hard to capture in this scale. Still looks cool though I'm almost tempted to re-shorten the pylons on mine to this width again...I blew almost all my light grey cheese wedges trying to 'round off' the pylons !
