I honestly never liked the construction of the cockpit section of 9492. I really hated the look of the printed bubble canopy so I decided to mod mine using pieces from the TIE Advanced Prototype that was released earlier this year:

I think it looks a million times better!

Very nice. I've always dreamed of doing this, but I have 3 ties to mod. Maybe I'll just do this on my Interceptor and call it a day. I'm surprised I haven't seen this before, but still an outstanding Mod!

That looks very nice, I wish I had the tie prototype so I could use those parts! I modded my own 9492 a couple of months ago as I also wasn't keen on the 'out of the box' look. I made the pylons wider by a couple of studs and changed th bubble shape as much as I could with the parts I had, but I'm still not happy with it. Think I'm going to shorten the pylons by 1 stud and revisit the bubble. Do you have any shots of the rear ? It looks Like you have added a viewport ?

I grabbed both the windscreen and the roof disc from B&P to mod my 9492 in the same way. Glad to see that it works nicely as I've not had a chance to make the changes myself.

I also picked up a second TIE Advanced Prototype to hopefully MOD it into Vader's Advanced... I can see the mods done here will be helpful in trying to put that together.

Thanks for the kind words!

@Miles teg.

The rear is pretty much identical to the unmodified model.

Ah, my mistake. I was looking at the hinge and seeing something completely different. That concave rear section is very hard to capture in this scale. Still looks cool though

I'm almost tempted to re-shorten the pylons on mine to this width again...I blew almost all my light grey cheese wedges trying to 'round off' the pylons !
