Sheepo Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) I have created these bodyworks to be used with my Modular All-terrain Platform, more info here This time I have chosen again the Land-Rover family. The reason is because many people like the LR, but my previous one is very big and complex. Also, as I wrote before the MAP born as a mid-size Defender, so built some Land-Rovers was a important too. LR Series II, III and Defender are very similar, so was very easy create all of them. All bodyworks are compatible 100% with all MAP chassis. The short versions in WB:24, and the long ones in WB:28. The roof is easy removable to get a convertible LR. To film the video and take the pictures I have only built Series II 88, Series III 109 5doors, and Defender 110 3doors. Rishab N Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I love the look of the Defender. Its also a much more affordable option for those of us who can't build your larger Defender . Can you take a picture with both models together? Quote
bonox Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 That's a brilliant set and a great example of modularisation. I'm definately going to build an 88 :) Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Great work again Sheepo , only the lights on the photo with you moc on the Defender are up side down, in the renders they are the good way Quote

Can you take a picture with both models together? Now I don't have the old LR with me, but I have a pictures I took when the new one was not finished... they have almost the same size... LOL Great work again Sheepo , only the lights on the photo with you moc on the Defender are up side down, in the renders they are the good way LOL. I think that happened because I had to disassemble it for one reason and I reassemble it in the wrong side. Nothing really important ;) Quote
FX6000 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Great work! For my taste LR Defender is the best looking. Thanks for the instructions! Quote
corujoxx Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I love the "big one". One friend of mine has a real one, in matt black, and is awesome... Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Excellent work again, as we are used from your hands...!!! Nice meeting you in real life... Quote

piterx Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 great models sheepo :) i'm about to make a defender as well, but it will be smaller hehe.... but you actually gave me a nice idea, i could make a modular setup for micro scale crawlers Quote
rm8 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) Just did first part of my MAP Land Rover Review: MAP PF chassis. My first time buiulding other AFOL's models. This one catch my attention because of middle size and love to 4x4 classic cars. It is not usually what I do by myself: I prefer robust and effective chasiss with strong transmission and trial possibilities. This chassis is not for trial. But it have other pros: - smart distibution of electric components - adjsutable wheelbase - gearbox. All you need is simple reinforcement of gearbox and modifiying of axles (may be without diffs). May be Fernando/Sheepo, as author, can provide us with some upgrade kits? This is chassis cost its money and your attention! Wait for next 2 episodes: Land Rover Defender 90 and pimped Defender from me;) TURN ON ENGLISH SUBTITILES Edited April 23, 2016 by rm8 Quote
M5Technic Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 great video as always, Igor! thanks for the information! Make sure you dont lose footage from next episodes like you did with fj45 truck Quote
Sheepo Posted April 24, 2016 Author Posted April 24, 2016 Thank you for the review!! I really like your review, I think it is very clever and realistic. The design is not perfect, but as you said it is a very good base to modify as you want. I have a RC chassis V2 version with improved rear axle and gearbox. I will publish it as soon as I have it ready Note: I used lithium battery in my early prototypes , but I used AA battery box in the final design for not increase the total cost too much: 7€(AA) vs 15€(AAA) vs 60€(lithium)... rm8 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) Next episode Detailed review of LR body Edited May 4, 2016 by rm8 Quote
agrof Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Thank You for the reviews rm8, they give really detailed depth to this MOC. Now I am even more impressed by the clever systematic build-up how Sheepo succeeded with modularity. Also great mods, waiting for the next episode, especially the comparison! Quote
rm8 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 (edited) more two episodes short outdoor ride comparison with Toyota FJ - they are different, so dont judge only by offroad capabilties Both have cons and pros that was interesting to find new techniques by Sheepo. Wish I have more time to build such MOC's - small (in relation to other MOCs by Fernando) and 4x4 Edited May 9, 2016 by rm8 Quote
fishkeeper Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 they look great tempted to have a go at one myself Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Great land-rovers, they look so real They make a very impressive group of MOCs Quote
fishkeeper Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 there's a lot of possibilities as to different variants as well such as the one with four tracks instead of wheels Quote
