edsmith0075 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I would like to build my 8 wide trains without the stairs attached to the bogies, this is closer to real trains. Has anyone her done this? Should I throw out the Lego Turning tracks and just upgrade everything to ME Models? Looking for suggestions and advice, Thanks in advance! Ed Quote
dr_spock Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 You mean like this? Stairs attached to body frame with right angle bracket? Quote
IronFish Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 The only problem might be that the couplings might not be able to make the turns, if they're attached to the base of the train, as apposed to the bogie. Quote
THERIZE Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I tried to do this several times but it never worked for me. For coupling you could use a drawbar from under the bogie. But If its to long it can block the bogie from turning. Quote

CrispyBassist Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Should I throw out the Lego Turning tracks and just upgrade everything to ME Models? Switching completely to ME Models will reduce problems with curves, but not with switches. When I did my GP9 I attached the stairs to the trucks to negotiate curves, but (in my opinion) designed them so that they still look right. NYNH&H GP-9 by Matt Csenge, on Flickr Quote
