Cecilie Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This is my entry for the semifinals of the Imperium der Steine MOC Olympics. The theme for this round was to build a minor scene, something in between the big scenes. I chose to build Dex's Diner from Episode II, where Obi-Wan goes to get information on the toxic dart from his friend Dex. Dex's Diner by Cecilie Fritzvold, on Flickr Dex's Diner by Cecilie Fritzvold, on Flickr I almost missed the deadline on this one, because I had an accident with the MOC 4 hours before the deadline as I was bringing it downstairs for photography, and I dropped it and it shattered quite badly. Luckily I was able to put it back together in time. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Beautiful MOC! I like how you made the waitress droid too. Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Amazing scene! That first shot really shows off the entire build. The sweeping bar is just beautiful, as are the details peppered around it. The waitress droid looks very good, as do the other patrons. One gripe I have with this is size. The diner looks a bit on the big side overall. The movie made it look like a small, grimy place, but the small aspect isn't coming through perfectly. Mini figs are probably a big source of the issue, as they're disproportionate sizes mess things up. The bar and back wall would need to be moved forward a bit, or maybe even the bar made smaller. I completely understand the challenge, however, and commend you for this build overall, and yoir quick repair job. Overall, another great scene, and the best of luck. Quote
Graham Gidman Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Instantly recognizable! Great work! Quote
deraven Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Very nice. Great pic for the first shot, too! And I also agree that the waitress droid is very well captured. Well done! Quote
Steph 104th Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This is awesome, it's something I always hoped to create after I acquired Pong Krell. I really love the construction of the bar. Quote
N-4K0 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Looks very spot on to how I remember it. Nice work. Quote
Cecilie Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 Thank you everyone, I'm glad you like it Amazing scene! That first shot really shows off the entire build. Minifig-scale is quite hard to work with, and it was also a case of it being hard to make the bar any smaller with the limitations of the brick, and still wanting to keep the level of detail I wanted. This is awesome, it's something I always hoped to create after I acquired Pong Krell. I really love the construction of the bar. I haven't followed the Clone Wars, so I didn't even know about the Pong Krell minifig until a friend pointed it out to me . Quote

darththeling Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 This is genius. Love the rounding on the windows. Quote
meowmachine Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 This is a really great MOC. Really has the shine of Coruscant with all the tiling SNOT. Quote
Mr Man Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I never really liked this scene, I preferred the deleted one of him finding out in the temple. But I do like your build of it, it's cleaner and easier to see what's going on than the films version. Quote
peedeejay Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Really cool. Love the curves and the waitress droid is spot on! Quote
