ilikeboomerang1 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Hello again Euromembers (does that sound good?), and my question is simpler than slicing already-sliced white bread: What are good sets for building a town or city? I already have some ideas, but if there's some more, you can tell me! Here are the ones I have: All the Modulars that don't cost more than a thousand dollars (that means, no MS or GG, I already have CC, but it's on my kid's room. They have it in their brick box. I might make something from it. I don't know.) 10159 City Airport (I don't want to pay lots of money for Century Skyway, so it's better to buy the rerelease) 10041 Main Street (the same reason as above) 60097 City Square 60026 Town Square 7641 City Corner 8404 Public Transport (this and the four sets above this one and the modulars make an excellent city center) 31026 Bike Shop and Cafe 31036 Toy and Grocery Shop 60050 Train Station 7744 or 7035 Police Headquarters/Police HQ 4207 City Garage 3438 McDonald's Restaurant (even though a drive-thru, every city MUST have a McDonald's, if not, they're not a city) 7848 Toys R' Us Truck (it's a good set for downtown) 41058 Heartlake Shopping Mall (I just have to change the colors to tan.) 31012 Family House (we're moving on to the suburbs...) 560 Town House 1484 Houses (some apartments) 4996 Beach House 5776 Hillside House 1854 House with Roof-Windows (our soon-to-be city will be a very modern city, and roof-windows are modern, in an 90's kind of way) 31009 Small Cottage 31025 Mountain Hut (it's one of those things for kids to climb on, that's why it isn't that tall) 6411 Sand Dollar Cafe 6409 Island Arcade 6547 Fun Fair 6472 Gas N' Wash Express 3180 Tank Truck 1252 Shell Tanker 1254 Shell Convenience Store 1255 Shell Car Wash 1256 Shell Service Station 4432 Garbage Truck 4206-2 Recycling Truck So guys, please comment on this, and also add your sets for a city! legoguy1984 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Sounds like an awesome but expensive list. No trains to help your populace get about? Quote
dr_sarcophagus Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Ferris wheel and fairground mixer for a bit of a diversion. Haunted House (still under $1K - not sure how long for though) Blue Power Jet coz it's awesome (though awesomer would be six blue power jets to make up the Air Force Of LEGOLAND (AFOL) aerobatics team. ilikeboomerang1 Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) Oh yeah, I forgot about the trains, probably they would be 60051 High-Speed Passenger Train. Ferris Wheel and the Mixer too. Our airplane would probably be the 7893. Even though it's a bit larged-up, it has 18 seats! I think. Either 18 or 16. I might (but it's a very small chance) of buying the Haunted House for an amusement park during halloween. I don't want to buy the BPJ because I fear it's not minifig-scales (that's why I didn't put the Factory sets, they're not for minifigs. I have sort of an obsession with minifig-scale in LEGO-related stuff. But maybe I'll use the new Eiffel Tower for like a little children's place, where they could go under it or climb it.) I also don't want it because my LEGO City won't be fighting in war. The closest thing they have to war are crimes. Edited August 14, 2015 by ilikeboomerang1 Quote
Off the wall Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I think the most important aspect of a Lego town is how it's all tied together so that it looks like a town and not just a collection of Lego sets. MOC a park or green area, maybe a nice MOC town square. Streets? Anyway, sounds like a fun and ambitious project. Enjoy. Quote
dr_sarcophagus Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Blue Power Jet is built for two minifigs. I've built a 6 wide fuel truck and mobile stairs for mine and I reckon the scale is pretty good. Quote

Maybe in the actual city center, I could put a park similar to Central Park. Thanks for giving me ideas! Also, I'll use the road plates for streets. Blue Power Jet is built for two minifigs. But I won't try to hypnotize people into recruiting themselves to the Air Force! They will decide. Edited August 14, 2015 by ilikeboomerang1 Quote
knight_40k Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Don't forget a Hospital 4429 or 7892. Also 60008 has a nice museum. Quote

Also 60008 has a nice museum. Yes a hospital too. But maybe I might use either the old ETC (Emergency Treatment Center) or the Helicopter Rescue Center with some extra baseplate for the garage so the GV Ambulance can fit there. Also, the 60008 museum is a good museum but what I wonder is, what am I going to do with the police cars? There's another set that is good for a city, and that's 3661 Bank and Money Transfer but the question's there too. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Don't forget about FRIENDS! They have great shops like Hair saloon, grocery shop, pet shop... Quote
