Cafe Corner piece alternatives

I recently completed parting out the Green Grocer and had a lot of fun with it. I had to make a few modifications due to the super high cost of some of the rare bricks and it looks like I'll have to do the same thing with Cafe Corner. One piece I'm particularly concerned about is Element #4222968, "White Ski with Hinge". 11 of these babies make the front arch thing.

I've noticed that the Ski without hinge is significantly more common/cheaper and was wondering if anyone else who bricklinked/parted out cafe corner made this similar variation and has a picture of it. Can't decide which way to go but wish I had an idea before making the decision to fork over the $$$ or not.

The ski with hinge is 30 cents from lego.com if you haven't looked there yet.

Thanks for that, but apparently it's listing as "Avaiable" on lego.com is an error. I made a couple of orders and it kind of broke their system, lol. Finally got someone to confirm on the phone that that piece is in fact discountinued as I suspected based on the high market value. The woman was very friendly but "inquired with her parts people" and told me about "the new item number" for that item which really was just the item # for the ski without hinge.

I am pretty sure you can not use the new ski element as a sub as it does not have the hole. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative. Go with a different colour than white. This is not one of the things i subbed when doing mine as i thought it a key element to the way the whole modular works. There is a whole thread devoted to this called Bricklinking Green Grocer and Cafe corner and this is covered in the thread as well as pictures of alternative builds in other colours.

Wow! You are so right regarding the whole... I totally missed that initially. You're right... I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet. Thanks for the tip regarding the other thread...I found that shortly after creating this one and found it very interesting.

The new mold has a hole. I did that with my CC before I scrapped it. Did they make yet another mold variant? Because I have a whole bunch of white without hinge, with hole.
