CaptainToad Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 hey guys I was thinking recently about trying to build a tree with the element mentioned in the thread title has anyone experience with this? some pics of how it looks like? Quote
CaptainToad Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 so no one ever tried that? The reason I was asking is that I dont own that piece (yet) and its kinda expensive to buy a couple of those and then realize that its no good... Quote
Venunder Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 How were you planning to use them? The top of the arch will need a few slopes or cheeses if you are using the arch as horizontal branches. If the arches are used vertically, I'm guessing that the end of the arch will need to be attached to a hinge or bracket? to connect it to the ground. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 It works okay, but it all depends what it is for. I have placed it inverted as a "middle" level branch using technic axles and bricks/plates with technic holes. I have also used it for structures that are part of the tree, so it lets it looks like a natural root structure the building is built within. Trees are fun to build, but also very frustrating! Quote
CaptainToad Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 Well, I wanted to use it just as it is! :) and put a lot of leaves onto it :) The thing is, I was looking out of my balcony these days, and there is a tree - a very big one - and the branches on one side are really long, while the branches on the other side are rather short - sun exposure I guess, so I thought about designing a tree with regular branches on one side and maybe two longer branches on the other... I guess I will order two of those pieces in the weeks to come and do some tests - I will post the results... Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Why not half arches? If you're going for a weeping willow look, I would think these would look better? Although I guess it depends on the scale... Quote

Although I guess it depends on the scale... Well, I use half arches all the time - and I thought this arch might be come in handy to give trees a more distinct and unique look - will have to try it out - maybe its no good but still I thought someone might have had the same idea a long time ago and could give me some insight. thanks for the tip with the lianes - actually I must say I wouldnt know how to use these to build a weeping willow... :) Quote
