5150 Lego Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Looks like a movie due out Thanksgiving. http://www.magorium.com/ Quote
john cleese Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) They call it a hit movie, which no doubt it will be since the target audience is kids, and they are easy targets. To me it looks like a chocolate factory knock off, piece of crap though and i think that statement is a bit presumptuous. I assumed if they called it a hit movie, it would have to have been out already. Edited September 10, 2007 by john cleese Quote
SirNadroj Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 it says "collect all the creator sets featured in the hit movie." One down, two to go. :-) Well, it does look destined to fail horribly at the box offices, and before it comes out on DVD, people will have forgotten about it. But if there are LEGO brand products in it, I will unfortunately have to see it. :-X Thats just how I am, I can't help it! X-D Quote
Shadows Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Memo: Top Secret. Eyes Only (What does that mean? Honestly, do some people read with their ears?) From: LEGO Marketing, Billund Subject: Movie tie-ins. It has come to our attention recently that featuring your product in a movie can be profitable. Very profitable. Buckets of money profitable. We did extensive studies on the subject and came to the conclusion that we would like to participate in this form of marketing. Ok, honestly, we watched ET and got a craving for some Reece's Pieces. Same deal. It has also been decided that our current marketing program is lacking in current pop cultural icons. Sure, we have Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but they're old and nobody gives a crap. That said, we're ditching all of those efforts and putting our entire marketing budget behind what can only be described as a definite hit movie of the ages: Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium Yes, that's right, we've scored the big one this time. No more B movies for us, it's all top notch from here on out! After this one you'll be saying, "Casablanca, what?" Signed, Claude Dinkelhoffer 14th Director of Bathroom Keys Marketing Division The LEGO Group PS. Personally, I'm more excited than I've been for anything since the remake of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Quote

gylman Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Before some of you you guys get all high and mighty about how Lego should run their operation, being the marketing experts you are, and with credit to the rather funny fake letter by Shadows (good one *y* ), just know that this movie tie-in is actually kinda useful to us LEGO fans because it is the excuse TLC has for release all 7 recent mini-creator sets at one time http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=66208-1 They had been released as all sorts of promos in the last year, but never in one promotion, not in one place. I, for one, had wanted to get most of these, but it was pretty hard to do so one at a time, 5-6 bucks at a pop, on Bricklink. Some were not available at all. I believe they will now all be available for somewhere around 25-30 bucks for the lot. That's pretty good if you ask me. And I don't have to buy a bunch of retarded cookies! K? Chill. p.s. Those of you who actually know something about marketing will have heard about something called "brand name visibility", which is especially important during the Xmas season. The purpose of one time promos is not to make direct profit, but to keep your name and product in the public mind when they are out shopping or thinking of ideas. EDIT: actually it's only 20 bucks! at Target. See topic here. http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=11275 That's a bargoon folks. All bend on knees and hail Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium as a way to get great little LEGO sets at a great price! Spend the money you save on an extra box of overpriced popcorn at the movie. Quote
Zarkan Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 What? Lego really said that? I'm gona kill myself. Hardly. That's just imperialshadows shadowing his opinion on this with a fake marketing report. X-D Anyway, this movie looks just OKAY. Won't see it, no doubt, but if it does okay and brings more buisness to Lego, why is it so horrible? Oh, and that doesn't even include the fact that TLC is also aparrently making animated movies for Mars Mission, Town, Castle, Bionicle, and Creator in partnership with another company. *wacko* Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 If you've seen the movie poster, you'll notice the Lego dino in the right hand corner. I was going to post this, but.....oh, well. Quote
