I'm looking good for an alternative to not having to look through each settings own to see if it has one or more bricks I can use for a particular MOC, which I got the part list for online.

Peeron used be able to help me here, but it's dead. Does anyone know of an alternative?

Specifically the ability to add sets, get the inventory, and then add a part list and check if the parts are in my inventory of sets. And if they are, which set.

As far as I understand, rebrickable.com only allows me to see what other sets I can build, not which parts I am missing to build an moc of which I have the part list. Or is it just me who can't figure out how to use it.

if you load your existing parts into rebrick, it will tell you what you're missing. You can also specify which part groups and/or existing sets you have you want included in the calculation.

you need an account, and be logged into it with parts/sets etc loaded for this function to work

alternatively, use brickstock or similar to subtract your existing stock list from the MOC list. Ignore the zero and negative quantities and what's left you need to buy. Make sure both sets are equivalent (eg used or new) or you'll get funny results.

What you most likely want to use is the Wanted List feature on Bricklink (or possibly the 3rd party tool (Bricklink Helper) located here which can help compare store inventories and find as many parts in as few orders as possible, though I don't know how current it is as far as recent development).

The trick is adding parts to your Wanted List so that you can then use it or another tool to find shops that have all of what you need. If you got the inventory online and it's in a compatible format, just upload it directly to your wanted list. If you have the model in LDD/LDraw or a compatible parts list, you can use something like BrickUtils to then convert that parts list into a Bricklink-friendly format to add to the Wanted List. If you just have a textual list of parts, you'll need to either manually enter them all into a Wanted List or get the MOC into LDD or something and go from there.

Hope that helps at least point you in the right direction! :classic:
