I always loved this logo, as well as the one that came out for epidsode I.(as you can see iI made one myself v) Either it's nostalgia that makes me love it, or its really that good. Too bad they never kept it on the boxes(other than the 30th anniversery), they started using the same logo the whole Star Wars franchise is using.

Is it me, or is the older box art better too? I always liked the back of the box featuring the model in some type of hangar halfway disassembled.

Very cool. It's amazing how much more impact the logo has when you view by itself rather than on the corner of a box that has so many other elements vying for your attention!

That's fascinating to read. Thanks for sharing! My luck was that lego star wars was launched when I was a child and star wars was still new and exciting to me in the 90s. So much emotion goes with that old logo. Really interesting to learn something about the start of this most successful cooperation. Without lego, star wars maybe wouldn't have been so big for me and lego without star wars definitely not.

I think the older box art is far better, much more cleaner and (I personally think this is the most important part) it made you imagine! I mean, when I saw the old boxes I dreamed entire adventures that I was going to play with the set, thanks to the back of the boxes, that had amazing pictures to let you imagine a small story.

Now the boxes are too saturated with colors, explosions, lasers and all of that stuff, and the back of the box only shows the play features of the set which (I've always thought) children doesn't care too much.

I agree. but times have changed. Sets have turned into models. The older Sets were less complicated builds, less pieces, less features, which requires more imagination. The boxes also featured the alternative builds, which were great to inpsire kids! The newer sets, which are now models, are more complicated builds, more pieces, and more features. So, it is only natural that LEGO had to show the features on the back of the box, as it makes more sense to do that. (that's toy industry for ya). They probably thought the alternative build was useless anymore as kids can come up with their own.

A side note. I do fondly remember in LEGO magazine, they feature combined builds of their newest sets, and some instructions. Also feature builds sent in by the Kidos. Not sure if they do this still as I am unsubscribed from it.
