Smitty500 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Hello Eurobricks! I present to you, my newest, possible UCS, MOC. I would like to point out that the republic gunship is one of my favorite vehicles in the Star Wars Universe, especially the most iconic one during the Clone Wars. Though one variant of the ship sticks out, and that is the Arc Gunship. This ship features blue wings and stripes along the body of the ship, but the most striking feature is the fearsome Rancor face on the front. MOCPages Gallery: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/416854 The Build: First off, let me say how awesome Mike Psiaki's rendition of the ship was. I drew a lot of inspiration and design from his Gunship. I initially is . After awhile I then realized I could not put the rancor's face on the way it should, so I modified the front. As well as changing other various parts of the ship to make it more of my own. changes including: the cockpit/canopy, troop deck, side doors, rear ramp, and the wings. With some of these mods, I was forced to add some transparent technic beams for support and rigidity. Unfortunately this cuts into the build, but was needed. Features: The Gunship sports the customized Arc variant color scheme, based off the same Arc Gunship from Genndy Tartakovsky's 'Clone Wars' cartoon . The face of the ship, striping along the side and the wings, are custom decals, made by me. There is a full sized rear folding ramp, which can fit two speeder bikes. Rotating missile loader. Liftable handle, for take off. and Last but not least, Side sliding doors, which can be opened simultaneously (When one opens, the other opens with it). GuyDudeMan27 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Looks great! I love it! The blue is perfect, and the decals make it perfect. I also really love how the build isn't as simple as just bricks stacked. The Snot plates look great on the side, and add some texture to the build. Overall, just a great build! Quote
TheWolffe Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I'm in love! You've definitely captured the ships menacing look, well done Quote
Artizan Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) This is real great! How I miss the old cartoon! Put some Arc troopers to go in it. It is not just the paintjob that is great, the overall gunship is one of the best I've seen. Edited July 26, 2015 by Artizan Quote
Dosenbrot Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 This made me really nostalgic, I remember seeing this Ship in the Cartoon for the first time and always wanting one for myself. Great Job on the model, looks gorgeous. Quote
Only Sinner Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 This has always been my absoloute favorite version of the gunship. Great job on recreating this beast. This is very detail accurate and the proportions are just right. Quote
Anio Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Nice model. With a lot of good ideas in it. I am still not convinced with the "bubbles" (on the sides and on the wings). But at the moment I don't have any suggestion to make it better. :/ It's been a while a want to do an UCS RAG... I should give it a try someday. Quote
Smitty500 Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 Thanks everyone for the kind comments! This is real great! How I miss the old cartoon! Put some Arc troopers to go in it. It is not just the paintjob that is great, the overall gunship is one of the best I've seen. I have it on DVD! PLus I am pretty sure you can find it on youtube. I edited the post with pictures of Arc Troopers in it. This made me really nostalgic, I remember seeing this Ship in the Cartoon for the first time and always wanting one for myself. Great Job on the model, looks gorgeous. Glad I can stir up some old memories! Tartakovski's work is Brilliant! Nice model. With a lot of good ideas in it. I am still not convinced with the "bubbles" (on the sides and on the wings). But at the moment I don't have any suggestion to make it better. :/ It's been a while a want to do an UCS RAG... I should give it a try someday. Thanks Anio! I am not to crazy about the bubbles either. Even though the real ship has bubbles, LEGOs are just not perfectly round, but they do a fair representation. I could do brick built similar to Mike's, but then I would be using more ideas from his MOC... The nice thing about this Gunship is that your eyes will always look at something else before the bubbles I would love to see your attempt at a gunship! Quote
Rishab N Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I've always wanted to see an UCS gunship, and this looks amazing. Nice work Quote

duboismerci Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Amazing work! I love it! Not only this is my favorite ship but the color scheme is awesome! Just a question: How many trooper can it carry? Quote
Meller Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Looks pretty need! love the theme army, and the 501st is kinda cool :-) Do you got names for the crew? :-) Quote
Smitty500 Posted July 27, 2015 Author Posted July 27, 2015 I've always wanted to see an UCS gunship, and this looks amazing. Nice work Thanks! Though I cannot take all the credit, as I have based mine on another MOC by Mike Psaiki This build made me really happy, well done man! I am happy to make you happy Hallonsylt! Amazing work! I love it! Not only this is my favorite ship but the color scheme is awesome! Just a question: How many trooper can it carry? Glad you like it. I have not filled this up with troops yet, only the 7 clones I have made for Fordo's squad. But I think it could hold atleast 12 troopers the way the plates are set up now. It would be difficult to get any studs where I had SNOTed. Looks pretty need! love the theme army, and the 501st is kinda cool :-) Do you got names for the crew? :-) Thank you. These are actually arc troopers from Captain Fordo's squad (red one). Other than that, I have not given names to them, that would be kind of wierd Quote

Other than that, I have not given names to them, that would be kind of wierd We are a little wierd gathering lego aren´t we? :-p i found his squad, it´s called the Muunilinst 10 and is Bacara, Rex, Gree, Oddball, Cody, Fox, Thire, Bly and Neyo, but on the battle of kamino most of them died, so left was Fordo, Bacara, Oddball, Bly and Rex Quote

Oh yes, I forgot they were called the Muunilist 10. And I did not find any information on those names pertaining to these clones. Those were all names of commanders in the clone wars, and they all survived well unto order 66. What was your source of this? I feel they were already commanders when the war started, and that would conflict with them being part of the Muunilist 10. Quote
Meller Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Her you go: http://swfanon.wikia.com/wiki/Muunilinst_10 And yes frofo help at order 66 and he also killed a Jedi, i just can´t remember who :-) but Rex refuse to do order 66 Quote
Smitty500 Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Oh now I see why you would assume that. Your source is from fan-fiction wiki page, meaning that all that information is not entirely true, or not confirmed canon. Like I said Before, I do not think they were part of the Muunilist 10 as they were already comanders by the start of the Clone Wars. Try using wookiepedia as your main source of info Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) That is so awesome! I love to see ARC gunship mods like this one specially if they includes the ARC troopers, I only have a couple suggestions: first the bubble turrets on the sides, they are very well done but this specific ship isn't supposed to have them and secondly, I think you should either replace the clone wars helmets (the clone gunner and the one on the turret) with episode II ones or the episode II ones with the clone wars ones (the commander fox for the red one, commander rex's for the blue ones and the head hunter pilot for the gunner), but that is just me being picky, it's perfect just as it is  . Thanks Nom. the Gunship is my favorite republic ship, and I am always pleased to see when someone makes an arc version as well. Yes, canonically speaking I should drop the bubble turrets, but I kept them on since I did not put the frontal doors on (I thought it would be too busy and not fit well, maybe something I'll try in the future). There is also fan art on the web depicting the Arc Gunship as a standard gunship with a different the color scheme. So I took my creative rights, and put them on. As for the troopers, I know what you mean by keeping them all 'symetrical'. But they are a kind of a WIP, as I made custom decals to make them look like the Ep. II clones,(hate the clone wars look). the Rex helmet will be replaced by the Arealight BARC trooper helmet. Quote
Veynom Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Excellent rendition of a Gunsip and I totally agree with ARC versions being top-notch. Good job! No chance you woul dhave a LDD to share by chance ? ;) Quote
Smitty500 Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 Thank you all. I do have an LDD file...But. It is an older version. It's closer to Mike's original design. I can still upload it somehow and share, if you are interested in that? Quote
