weissb Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 My son and I have just purchased a second Horizon Express to add to our first one. We have purchased all the Power Functions needed for the second engine. From reading other posts it looks like the best thing to do is mount the train motor backards on the "back" engine. That makes sense but what we can not figure out is how to actually mount the motor backwards. If we mount it under the engineer we can not figure out how to wire it up to the power box with out a mojor rebuild of the front nose. If we mount it in the rear there is the hole to bring the wire to the power box but then there is a larger gap between this engine and the passanger car. We have looked at other videos and do not see the extra gap. Is there something we are missing? We would really appreciate any input. Thanks, weissb Quote
Paperballpark Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 You can get a polarity switch to change the direction the motor runs in. I don't have one (although I have 2x Horizon Express), but that's what I'd use. Quote
weissb Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 We have one - we are working with how to fit all of it in the train compartment! THANKS! Quote
marook Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 You simply replace the other set of wheels in the other end, then it's automatically 'switched'. You only need the polarity switch if it's in the same position (end at the coaches) or if you have two motors on th same engine (and don't use SBrick in place if the IR..) Quote
ecmo47 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 My 8-car train (2 engines, three 2-car sets) runs just fine with the motor installed in the front engine as per the instructions. I would think you might have some front end derailment problems pushing exclusively from the back. Quote

marook Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Ur running 8 cars with only ons motor at the front? I do that, but have 2 motors in the front engine. It's a bit slow starting (so realistic) and not happy going up-hill, unless it's up in speed before starting to climb, but I'm trying to get motors for the back engine as well.. :-) Quote
