jonwil Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Here are some photos I took of the BrisBricks train layout at the Strathpine LEGO show and the Gold Coast train show: A firefighting helicopter reloading with water at a lake Ned Kelly and some troopers ABC Australia TV news truck The story is that the TV news crew is there to interview a politician making a stop at the steel mill to talk about how important the mill is and talking to a worker about the mill and why the government needs to do more (something you see on the ABC in Australia a fair bit, especially around election time) Police pulling over Doc and Marty in the DeLorean (presumably for going faster than the speed limit given that there is no way driving at 88mph would be legal in any built up area anywhere in Australia) General Electric Dash-8 diesel locomotive in BHP colors My replica of the train hijack scene in Back To The Future III complete with film crews and DeLorean Famous rock star being pulled over by a motorbike cop for talking on his mobile phone wile driving Full view of my BHP Steel Mill with Blast Furnace (notice Hulk climbing up the side and Iron Man flying overhead), factory building for making steel products and control room (the white building) Full albums for both shows can be seen here https://picasaweb.google.com/jfwfreo/Strathpine https://picasaweb.google.com/jfwfreo/GoldCoast Quote
jonwil Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Other things to take note of in the photos of the layout at the 2 shows: A fishing boat complete with seagulls trying to score a free meal A big bucket wheel excavator at the mining site A train bridge made using the beams from the LEGO 7900 Heavy Loader (I doubt our group is the only one who has thought to use those beam pieces to build a bridge like that) X-Files characters (from an Ideas submission I believe) chasing after the CMF grey aliens A Hippie worshiping a burning tree Santa Claus riding a skateboard The Pied Piper leading some rats Bunny Rabbits in the Lettuce A Scotsman playing the Great Highland Bagpipes (I have Scottish ancestry somewhere and I also really like Scottish songs and Bagpipe music) My Italian Wood-fired Pizza Shop and Gelateria (complete with pizza delivery guy on a scooter) My Volvo B12BLEA articulated bus (all of the stickers on it are accurate for the bus in question including the destination signage, bus numbers, Volvo logo and number plates. I even found the correct font for the number plates on the state official "make your own personalized number plate" website) Newspaper guy pushing newspapers to commuters (until recently there was a free afternoon newspaper in my city called Mx and people used to stand on street corners in the CBD and try to get passing travelers to pick up a copy) Guy wearing a Green Lantern shirt Guy trying to board the bus wearing board shorts and carrying a surfboard Postie on a bike collecting the mail from the mail box with a lady rushing to get her letter into the box so it can go out Workers in high-vis gear working in and around the steel mill Collection of products made by the steel mill sitting ready to be picked up and shipped out Big rig truck being loaded up with product ready to ship out Security guy checking people entering the mill to make sure they are allowed to enter Black Holden SS Ute (Aussie version of a Pickup Truck) exiting the steel mill Someone photographing the steel mill (and hoping the cops don't come after him for photographing a "sensitive site" as seems to be happening more and more these days with innocent people taking photos of transport infrastructure, industrial buildings, power plants, government buildings, bridges etc) LED lighting strips inside the Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade and Town Hall Haunted House being targeted by the wrecking ball Platform 9&3/4 with Harry going through the wall and the Double Decker Couch. Marching band and various Star Wars characters on parade Krusty Krab Singers on stage Sponge Bob Square Pants monorail, rocking pirate ship and Ferris Wheel Emperor Zurg spinning chair ride Bumper Cars ride Frozen castle train ride Drop Tower ride (with crocodile at the bottom) Reverse Free fall ride Windmill water pump Freight Yard Scout camp being attacked by a T-Rex Excellent use of the army helmets as turtle shells (at least I think that's what they are supposed to be, I didn't do that bit) Cricket Player with bat and ball (the bat is a BrickArms cricket bat) Guy comming out of the pizza shop who has just fallen over and is being helped by a passing nurse Saxophonist playing some tunes Various cars including Friends and Spider-Man parked in the car park Unikitty on a bouncy castle Lava monster inside the Jurassic Park area Dinosaur eating one of the Star Wars guys Hills Hoist (outdoor thing for hanging washing on for those who dont know) complete with motor to make it spin Quote
