Rolli Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 V-Galactic Racing: Crimson Hornet 3000 by rolli "V-Galactic Racing is the most advanced and awesome racing game to day. Jump in your ship and race on tracks all around the galaxy and become the No. 1! You start out with the Crimson Hornet 3000 but there's so much more waiting for you - just unlock the rides and tracks!*" *Future DLCs - not planned. You'll have to play the campaign - or whine. And yes, sadly the game is totally made up. One of these rare quick builds, an evening long, just there to distract me from other projects. I wanted to build some sci-fi for a change - think Formula 1 in space and in the far future. Obviously this needs to be a game so I came up with the whole screen design which - fun fact - took me longer than building. I will add more racers in the coming months, whenever I feel like I need to build one or need another break - after all I need to unlock them all Looking forward to what you think - let me know! ___ Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) Well, I always enjoy seeing some unusually used bricks, (reversed canopy in your case) and every time I found something like that and if it is even interesting design I know that the builder is realy MOC Expert tho he has no badge stating that - from this point of view it is excelent! + also the visual art side of the thing looks professional, I mean that motion blur bg and the way the model is nicely placed into that, nice Edited July 15, 2015 by bublible Quote
Corvo Wingtips Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Love the color scheme! The visual effects really work in your favor and im glad you didnt overdo it. Brings out the build nicely. Quote
msx80 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 as an ex-amateur game programmer, i would have killed for such nifty screen design. May i ask how you did it? PS the model is super cool too :) Quote

msx80 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 yeah i know, i meat something about the tecniques used Quote
PaddyBricksplitter Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 With the moc and the photoshopping this is really visually appealing. I don't usually like to much PS but this works. I have always been a Wipeout fan this captures the feel of that style of game perfectly. Quote

Sorry, just being curious as I do not understand what you actually mean by "technique" (technique how he did it in Photoshop or something else? ). If that is actually a case then: 1. open up Photoshop 2. make some rectangles and add some text to it 3. add some background pic, motion blur it 4. add you MOC model with trans background etc. Is that what you meant? P.S.; I personally using Fireworks CS6 instead as it can work with vectors (those rectangles etc.) and bitmap as well at the same time - I am not sure if Photoshop is able to do that, actually. Rolli Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks for the interest - what I did in Photoshop is basically what bublible noted. I started out extracting the model from a background, colour correction and all the basic stuff was done in RAW beforehand. I added the motion blur stuff and the turbine glows. Then I placed in a couple of boxes and text and a background image and applied different layer modes, layer styles as well as motion blur filters to them. All the fonts have a motion blur applied to them, for example. Topping it off is some colour correction and a Nebula photo to get some cohesion and stars. I ended up with a ton of different layers so I can't really dissect it that much, also due to the fact that it involved lots of experimentation. I'm a UI designer by trade so I don't usually do swooshy scifi game design. I guess you can't really explain too much and its quite fun to try it yourself. Photoshop can use Vectors btw, too, I use them all the time. I never quite got along with Fireworks. Back to topic, then? Quote

I never quite got along with Fireworks. Yea, may be: being webdesigner I was always using Adobe Fireworks instead of Photoshop cos it has some advantages for me + in the time I got into webdesign (15+ years back) Photoshop for sure could not manipulate/create vector and bitmap, only bitmaps - therefore they have separate app for vectors called Illustrator. But as you said things probably changed a lot now as I do not pay attention to them anymore so good for Photoshop users then. Back to topic, then? Sure...that is? Just joking... Cecilie Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 What I really love about this is the color scheme. And also how you always find a nifty use for those basketball hoops Quote
